Got sent this by a friend an hour after the news broke.Terrible but I did chuckle.

It sounds more hopeful than optimistic in nature.

My money would be on colon or bladder cancer given its close proximity to the prostate. A medical friend of mine said my pessimism could be right however more likely a scenario is its simply too early to tell and further investigations could still be going on which would make sense also.

Second thing I noticed now that I have read the statement is that Is devoid of any reassuring information such as "the cancer hs highly treatable " "The Kings prognosis is excellent" "the cancer is localised and at a very early stage" and such like.If the announcement was meant to dull speculation it would be a 100% own goal like throwing petrol on a fire and I don't think the King and those around him believe it would do anything other than create a tsunami of speculative headlines and cause people to question his mortality. I also think the fact he has been advised not to partake in any face to face events strongly suggests he has started chemo and therefore is likely to have a compromised immune system going forward.

Only thing that's ominous is he isn't saying what cancer it is especially as he would know the speculation would be colossal

You are forgetting Yasmin Qureshi who was also hospitalised .

My gut told me to pick him but looking up his condition suggested he could well have lasted several years longer. He did worse than all the statistics for his condition would have suggested.

Bollocks nearly p;icked him on on my theme team.He was on the subs bench.He would have been a unique.I looked too much in to the prognosis and not the fact that he kept having to have chemo and cancel things.Biggest miss of the year so far for me.

I reckon they have announced the Kings dodgy prostate right now as he was told to start canceling engagements some as early as tomorrow so it would have lead to a frenzy about Kate if he didn't come forward.

Yeah I figured Taylor would be on the Drop 40 but much lower.He was the easiest Drop on my main list and the second easiest overall after Kate Keltie for me.

Overall I'm not too surprised with my lists.Got one unique on the main team again as predicted and a fair few in No More Expenses ( had hoped for more) .Got irritatingly close to getting 5 Drop 40 picks on Slippery Soap instead of 3 but managed to get 3 uniques. I also got most of the big calls right for the Drop 40 and think although unlikely to match my personal best of 14th place I will do a lot better than last year. Most surprising unique I got was Judy Loe. Also surprised Ken Livingstone was almost unique.Also surprised Beccy Barr was only picked by myself and 2 others.Julie Goodyear also picked up less traction than I expected.Same with the Duke of Kent who as stated above has been mixed up with the other Prince Edward. Jimmy Carter though! 222 picks.It was never in doubt he would be the top of the Drop 40 but damn. Also sad to see "Cashier Number (insert age) Please " based on 1930 births not reappear after 12 years I think.Always found that list interesting to read every year.
