    Arthur Lee

Terribly sad news in Billboard today. The frontman of psych-proto-punkers Love, Arthur Lee, is apparently suffering from leukemia. http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/articl...t_id=1002313682 Awful shame, seeing as it's only 5 years since the old chap got out of jail, after a very harsh three strikes and you're out judgement. One for next year, perhaps? West coast whimsy's loss is deathlist's gain?
  4. Octopus of Odstock

    Ray Bradbury

It's not often I suggest candidates, but looking at a photo of the man in the middle, and then taking into account his obesity & his age (86 in August), he would be a serious candidate for 2007, I think. Certainly famous enough, and for his own thread, I think. Only thing is, he's still doing book signings & obviously his brain seems intact, if not his body, going by the blurb. Thoughts? Link

    Eugene Landy

Possibly only of interest to those who have worked in record shops, and huge Beach Boys fans. But Eugene Landy, 'psychiatrist' to Brian Wilson, has made himself comfortable and laid down on the couch for the last time. Landy notoriously cashed in his vulnerable celebrity client's fame wrote Wilson's money spinning biography http://xrrf.blogspot.com/2006/04/psychobit-eugene-landy.html

    Billy Preston

Former humungous afro sporting 70s soul singer and keyboard player, Billy Preston is apparently in a bad way following an infection of the heart early in the year. An alcoholic and cocaine addict, he had a kidney transplant in 2002 following kidney failure. The new kidney subsequently failed and he now relies on dialysis 3 times a week to survive. More info here, this is the latest I could find. Sounds quite promising for 2007 if not before, though not of course for Billy.
  9. Lady Die

    Lord Snowdon

Already posted in the "Lord Lichfield" thread.... I happened to glance at a well-known celebrity mag where they had photos of Lichfield's memorial service. Lord Snowdon was there & didn't look at all well. Maybe a possibility for 2007?

    Bernard Cribbins

With time working its fatal charms on the "Carry On" crew, I have to wonder why Bernard Cribbins hasn't gleaned a mention here yet. "Speaker for the Wombles" and talented vocalist behind such musical classics as "Right Said Fred" and "Gossip Calypso" and another one about exercise being good for you, which name escapes me... he's clocking in at a respectable 78 years old and, given the unexpected fatality that Carry On stardom carries, he may be a safe bet for the near future.

Ahoy-hoy. Apologies for absence and all that... I hear that Legendary Malian guitarist Ali Farka Toure, much loved by middle-class couples who wear macramed headgear and dance in an interpretive fashion at WOMAD is suffering from cancer. No details on google yet, but well worth a shout for '07...opinion anyone?
