Estee Lauder, who over decades built a multi-million-dollar cosmetics empire with thousands of employees, has died at the age of 97. Her son Leonard Lauder told the newspaper Lauder died of cardiopulmonary arrest. She died Saturday at her home on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, The NY Times said.

77 soon and she had that "stroke" in 2014. Years of drugs, Ike and a bad generation of musicians. Bad meaning that they were hard in the drug thing. She may live for a couple more years but better to start a thread while she's still rollin'. Bad year for music business. Ike died at 76 so let's keep this in numbers. Don't be mad at me for starting her thread. I love her and this is an honor. And I thought she already had a thread. She's retired and had a hyperactive life. A lot of people think she's dead already.

Bulent Ecevit Ex-Turkish PM, who had been ill before. Recovered, and until yesterday, was doing well. Not Any Longer I'm not sure he'll make it to 2007 & it may be between him & Suharto for which world leader will die first, but surely worth a consideration, especially as this story has been covered by the BBC.

This list is far too northern-hemisphere centric. We've got plenty of old-timers just busting to pop their clogs south of the equator. Take Sir Joh Bjelke-Petersen for example. If he manages to last the year out, then he'd be a dead cert [sic] for next year's list. Any chance we could see a few more antipodean antiques grace the list next year?

I've decided to start a thread for 77 year old glamour puss and actress Raquel Welch. Not just because I think she is deserving and has more than enough name recognition to warrant her own thread but because she has unusually stopped posting on all of her social media accounts twitter, Instagram and Facebook four months ago. This is making me suspect something may well seriously be amiss with her health wise. Naturally there could be a reasonable alternative explanation but I suspect otherwise and think it is worth flagging up. Gorgeous picture is from her breakout film role that jumpstarted her career.

Gwyllyn Samuel Newton Ford of the Canadian Provence of Quebec, better known to the world as the beloved actor Glenn Ford is scheduled to turn 89 this coming Sunday. Birthday Man Born May 1, 1916 and taking American Citizensip in 1939, he has appeared in several films including such treasured classics as Pocketful Of Miracles with Bette Davis, 3:10 to Yuma, Gilda, Teahouse of The August Moon, Jubal, A Stolen Life. If all goes as planned he will be around next year at the release of his authorized biography: Slow and slower Haven't found any word on his health but no news is often good news although his actual work seems to have dried up since the early 1990's. Maybe his adopted son Clark Kent knows where he is!.

If anyone deserves to die its that damn W**ker that QE2 is married to. Yep, you got it in one, Prince Philip ( Mountbatten) of "foot in mouth" fame. Apart from that, what else is he famous for? Marrying the Queen, big deal! The sooner that bugger is relegated to the earth, the happier I'll be. At his age, hopefully I shouldn't have too long to wait! *fingers crossed*

With the news he has been diagnosed with dementia and has been suffering for several years I feel a thread for him is deserved due to his status being high enough that making the main list would be a foreseeable decision.
