  1. Prophet

    Irrfan Khan

He has been diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumour, a very rare form of cancer. http://www.tribuneindia.com/news/nation/i-have-been-diagnosed-with-neuroendocrine-tumour-irrfan-khan/558694.html

    Trini Lopez

American singer Trini Lopez turned 80 last year, famous for his version of 'If I had a Hammer'. Just researched him and it looks like he's still active, but not entirely sure

    Franco Zeffirelli

This is the first time I create a new topic. But I think, such an important opera, cinema and film producer like Franco Zeffirelli really deserves his own thread. A few days ago he turned 95 years old. He is best known for his work in Romeo and Juliet (1968: won 2 Oscars), Hamlet (1990 nominated for 2 Oscars with Mel Gibson and Glenn Close) The Taming of the Shrew (1967 nominated for 2 Oscars with Liz Taylor and Richard Burton), Jesus of Nazareth (1977 with Robert Powell, Christopher Plummer and Anne Bancroft) La Traviata (1982 nominated for 2 Oscars) Othello (1986 nominated for 1 Oscar) In 1972, for moral reasons, he refused to work as director for The Godfather. Francis Ford Coppola then got this job. Only four weeks ago in January 2018 his son declared that his father is too ill. He's on my personal list for the first time this year. But he would certainly be a possible candidate for the official Deathlist 2019.

    Richard Overton

Figured he had his own thread by now. Here 'tis then. So before everyone (me included) starts chiseling a date on his headstone, the Travis County (TX) Democratic Party just held a benefit for Overton for his years of service. Did the 111-year old cigar-smoking veteran attend in person? Let's go to the video...
  5. He is in hospital with an infection now. Last year he was diagnosed with dementia.

    Gerd Müller

As one of the most famous german football players I think he deserves his own thread. He suffers from Alzheimer for nearly 10 years and lives in a care home.

    Mad Mike Hoare

Will be 99 in March, and defo a deathlisty name imo. Mad Irish bastard has had some life (assuming alive). One of his boys died six months ago https://www.scotsman.com/news/obituaries/obituary-peter-duffy-mercenary-soldier-hijacker-ex-convict-chef-photographer-and-raconteur-1-4542468 And I came across this interview from when The Wild Geese was released (he advised on the film) https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/lifestyle/1978/11/13/mad-mike-the-mercenary/473b33ac-3eb3-493d-816c-6560fa239914/?utm_term=.2392ecdcaeb0 Nowt to say in ill health, but age alone could see him in the main List next year. Outlived all his contemporaries by decades, worth a thread.

    George Alagiah

The BBC newsreader George Alagiah has been diagnosed with bowel cancer for a second time.He was first diagnosed with Stage 4 bowel cancer in April 2014 which had spread to his lymph nodes and liver.Due to the presence of 8 tumours in his liver a substantial part was removed. He underwent 3 operations and nearly 18 months of chemotherapy. No news on the stage of his cancer or whether it has spread again this time but given the seriousness of the last cancer diagnosis it looks grim.Alagiah is 62 and has worked for the BBC for 29 years initially as a foreign correspondent covering Rwanda Afghanistan and Somalia. For the last 15 years he has been the presenter of BBC News at 6 (Most recently 15/1/18).He has also interviewed Desmond Tutu Nelson Mandela Robert Mugabe and Kofi Annan. Surely a possible future DL candidate if he lasts long enough ?

    Walter Mondale

On Friday, former Democratic Vice President and 1984 Presidential Candidate Walter Mondale of Minnesota will turn 90 years old. Certainly deathlisty, considering Former VP's Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, George H.W. Bush, and Dick Cheney have all made appearances on the deathlist. Mondale, along with President Jimmy Carter are the oldest remaining President and Vice Presidential duo. There's also a recent update about the Former Vice President. At around the 42 second mark and in the thumbnail you can see Vice President Mondale who escorted newly seated Senator Tina Smith to her swearing-in. Has gotten frailer over the years but is on his feet looks healthy for an 89-year-old widower.
  10. Imelda

    Ian Holm

I think this acting legend is now deserving of his own thread, based on the following from the FT in November 17 and due to the fact I have him on my Nags Head DP10 as well! Gatiss recognises someone at the door to the restaurant, a frail figure in a wheelchair, wearing a beanie. It’s Ian Holm, the 86-year-old actor who just three years ago was appearing as Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit films. “He was brilliant,” says Gatiss, transfixed. https://www.ft.com/content/51d3c7e4-c8c2-11e7-ab18-7a9fb7d6163e He seems to now be in permanent retirement and IMBD lists no roles since the aforementioned Hobbit in 2014. Like Alan Rickman, I suspect many people will only realise just how fantastic an actor he was after he has departed.

    2018 5 for WTF Deadpool

To retain an air of mystery to the scoring system; a few tweaks have been made and scores for last year will not be released until after entries for this years competition close. To clarify as you seem to be confused easily, YOU DO NOT NEED TO DO THE CALCULATION. Just send the 5 names. Welcome to a new pool that will run from 1st Jan 2017 00:00am to 31st Dec 2017 23:59. Each player must submit a team of five names and the score for each candidate on that team will be calculated as follows: 1 will be used for 0. International dialling codes of all nations in which the person has lived in + any regional dialling code that might have applied to them during their lifetime + the total box office take of each film they have appeared in + the total singles sales of all the records they have released / the number of children the individual has produced x (the year of their birth - the year of the death + the year of their mothers death if known) - the number of notable people that are listed as dead on wikipedia up to the date of calculation for 2017 / the number of family members listed in their wikipedia side bar with wiki links * the total number of followers any religion they proclaim to belong to has according to the most reliable source I can find x the number of shopping centres in the city/town that they are living in at the time of their death / the number of sexual encounters any person has publically bragged; the UK classification letter as a number (A being 1, B being 2) of any drugs the person has publically admitted to taking * the number of episodes their most recent television series appearance has had (if a series had multiple runs i.e classic/modern who or Star Trek T.O.S + Start Trek: Discovery etc etc then an aggregate of the entire run) * the number of search results brought up by google when their name is searched + the number of bing results brought up by google when their name is searched * the number of results if their name is searched on the BBC website * the number of professional snooker and or association football matches the individual has played in their life / the length of the longest rugby match they have been involved in + a random number between 1 and 1000 generated from this site= Your total score that death Deadline for entries is 23:59 December 31st 2017 If exacting information cannot be found for any figure (i.e it is clear they played some professional football matches but not clear how many, only the known number will be included (i.e the number of pro football matches we can be sure they played) Best of luck. EDIT: Teams must be sent by Private Message using this forum. All entrants must have a) their own wikipedia article b ) at least five news articles returned if google searched. I will aim for calculations to be carried out on the last day of the month in which celebrities die. Masterlist of Entries YoungWillz

Now confined to a care home although she loves it, now 92 and a 70s comedy great so deserves her own thread. http://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/ab-fab-star-june-whitfield-11706481

    Peter Lorimer

Peter Lorimer the Leeds United legend who gained 450 caps and scored over 150 goals for the team over 17 years as well as playing internationally for Scotland turns 71 today! A surprising milestone as 6 months ago he was said to be in hospital seriously ill with brain cancer. He has been scarcely heard of since then except for selling his memorabilia in September which may be an ominous sign.Definitely Deathlist worthy.

    Tessa Jowell

Thought I would create a thread for Tessa Jowell in the hope of helping her secure a place on next year`s list.Dame Tessa Jowell is a Member of the British House of Lords who spent 23 years in the House of Commons and served in the Cabinets of two Labour Prime Ministers (Blair and Brown) and even tried to run for mayor last year. She was knighted by the Queen in 2012.She has been in the political mainstream for over a quater of a century now and is (or was until recently) a regular panelist on Question Time and other Political programs. She revealed on her 70th Biirthday on September 17th (Or rather her daughter in law did ) that she had been diagnosed with brain cancer in May.The head of the brain tumor charity let slip that it was a "high grade brain tumour" making the chances of recovery pretty low. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-41302021 Here is Dame Tessa receiving a warm welcome back to the House of Lords 9 days ago.

    John Hume

Ok, someone who doesn't have their own thread and should, not only on notability but also on health. John Hume, Nobel Prize winner, was a leading Northern Irish politician (leader of the SDLP) and a key figure in the Good Friday Peace Agreement. He is also seriously ill now, having been diagnosed with dementia a number of years ago. He was able to get out and about to funerals and the like as recently as 2 years ago, but the first public seeds of his health really going downhill appeared when his wife had to make a statement on the death of Martin McGuinness earlier this year instead. Now, he is unable to attend screenings of films in his own honour. One to watch intently, and with a good deal of name relevance for updates, I give you this thread for 2 reasons. 1. He is an exceptionally Deathlist worthy name, and one whose health should be watched. And politicos/journos give a steady update on him being "badly ill", "if only he could see X" etc etc. 2. I stumble across health updates on him at least six times a year, and lose track of where to place them because updates on the man are in about 10 different threads now. So he gets his own. ...I'm going too guess there's a Peter Falk joke in 5...

    Rayya Elias

:Saw this update on Elizabeth Gilberts instagram about her "wife" (they had a commitment ceremony not a legal civil partnership but oh well)No other updates on Liz's social media feeds for over two weeks apart from this .Old photo?Surely Rayya Can't make 2018!

    Jim Leavelle

1963 is becoming even more distant from the present. Two men escorted Oswald to his fate - one of them is still alive but is 97! One of the few people to interact with Oswald after JFK's assassination and one of the links to the assassination that wasn't killed. An icon in pictures despite not being well known by name. Could be possibly doing well today (he was recently interviewed when Trump released the JFK files)...

    Pat Robertson

Considering some who have their own threads, this one is long overdue. Pat Robertson, the founder of the Christian Broadcasting Network and a familiar face on its flagship program The 700 Club, has been hospitalized, CBN announced Friday. The 87-year-old, who also founded the private Christian university Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia, was hospitalized after falling while horseback riding. SC
