  1. Octopus of Odstock

    Steve Harley

Following on from the Ideas and Possibilities thread, Steve Harley of Cockney Rebel fame has a 'nasty' cancer. https://m.facebook.com/profile.php/?id=100058063000040 All tour dates cancelled. Famous enough in my opinion without being lumped into a generic music thread.

    Peter Schickele

I know that most of you have probably not heard of this guy, but Peter Schickele died today, a hilarious composer of phony- and funny- music sort of in the style of JS Bach- he claimed to have found this guy, the youngest and oddest of JS Bach's 20-odd children. Anyway, sorry if I am breaking any rules, but he was well known here in the United States by nerdy people like me, so I thought I would mention it-

    The Derek Draper thread.

    DJ Casper

New Jersey media outlet Thirteen PBS seem to have jumped the gun earlier today and accidentally announced DJ Casper had died. As many of you know, he's long been a popular pick on DL across various pools after being diagnosed with both kidney and neuroendocrine cancers in 2016. In 2018, he announced that he had been spared by the mercy of God and that he was a changed man etc. etc. but apparently not... A quick look on Facebook reveals several posts from family and friends, requesting prayers, claiming he's "gravely ill" and in his last days. Here, here, and here. If true, a sad DDP miss as he isn't picked. I believe I'm right in saying last picked in 2020? No doubt someone will moan but I think he's big enough to merit his own thread. Plus 1) he doesn't really fit nicely into any others and 2) I never create any bloody threads round here so lay off the hate

    Yevgeny Prigozhin

I was really surprised that he didn't have a thread yet. Or a pool. I say July, 21, 2023. I haven't decided if he jumped out a window, shot himself or accidentally poisoned himself.
  6. ClawTheDoberman

    Julian Sands

  7. The Daredevil

    Jane Birkin

Yes, in lieu of the ongoing health battles of this icon of French, Hollywood and British cinema, it’s time she gets a thread.
  8. drol

    49. Franz Beckenbauer

Greatest German footballer to ever live, now in poor health and unable to attend both the World Cup and Pelé's funeral. Though he is very private on his health issues, he has recently revealed he is "doing well considering his condition", which is not so reassuring. Also looking very thin and yellowish. 80 seems a tall order.

    Ryuichi Sakamoto

    The Ryuichi Sakamoto thread.
  10. Senis

    Nikolai Ryzhkov

Nikolai Ryzhkov must be on the list for next year

    King Constantine II of Greece

King Constantine II of Greece, king of Greece from 1964–1973. He turns 83 years old next year and has been seen using a wheelchair for a while now. He was in hospital in 2018 after having a stroke. And was in hospital with covid-19 in January this year. He did not attend the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II this year. I don't think he has much time left.
  12. Spade_Cooley

    Jonnie Irwin

Looks like Jonnie's going down the "speaking to the tabloid press" every few days path when it comings to dealing with his terminal cancer diagnosis. Use this thread to detail all his appearances on Loose Women and the like.
  13. Lewd_Squirrel

    Robert Solow

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Solow Here's his wiki, he'll be 99 next year, and would make a great candidate, for next year.
  14. drol

    Peter Tobin

With the news of Peter Tobin being once again in very miserable conditions and the fact equally despicable Peter Sutcliffe scored for the DL, here's a thread to discuss Scotland's worst serial killer.
  15. Spade_Cooley

    David McCallum

    Well there you go.
  16. Charles De Gaulle

    Toby Keith

61 year old country star Toby Keith has had stomach cancer for a nearly a year now. And now he is too weak to travel https://countrynow.com/breaking-toby-keith-will-no-longer-appear-at-cancer-benefit-amid-tough-week/ According to Wikipedia he has sold over 40 million records which is quite a lot. Enough for me to say that despite his us centric fame he would very likely still get an obit over here. A good name for next year's deathlist.
  17. The Old Crem

    Topol

With the news he has been diagnosed with dementia and has been suffering for several years I feel a thread for him is deserved due to his status being high enough that making the main list would be a foreseeable decision.
  18. Paul Bearer

    Andy Goram

Former Rangers and Scotland goalkeeper Andy Goram is suffering from cancer, the Ibrox club have confirmed. https://news.stv.tv/sport/rangers-legend-andy-goram-being-treated-for-cancer
  19. The Great Cornholio

    Richard Lewis

Saw the latest season of Curb and he only appeared in a few scenes sitting down due to him becoming increasingly frail. Since he has had a massive array of health problems in the past too, I'd thought I'd add him to DL.

    Piper Laurie

Thought it was time she got her own thread. Actress and Hollywood royalty Piper Laurie (wiki) turns 90 tomorrow. A surviving star of Hollywood's Golden era, she was nominated for an Oscar three times (Carrie, Children of a Lesser God, and The Hustler). To later audiences, probably best known for playing the scheming villain Catherine Martell on Twin Peaks during the 1990s. She had several acting credits in 2018... but none since. Video interview of her here from March 2021. Looks ok for now but worth keeping an eye on. Picked by 5 teams in the DDP this year.
  21. MILFHunterGMan

    Louie Anderson

https://www.rollingstone.com/movies/movie-news/louie-anderson-hospitalized-blood-cancer-1286675/ Doesn't look too good for the former Family Feud host & star of 90s cartoon "Life with Louie"
  22. drol

    Lata Mangeshkar

Lata Mangeshkar, India's most famous singer ever, has been in hospital for a while with COVID and pneumonia. Today doctors said she will take a lot to recover, which seems rather ominous. Also hospitalised in critical condition in 2019 with respiratory failure and spent weeks on life support.

    Barry Humphries

He was recently diagnosed with a rare cancer. https://www.express.co.uk/celebrity-news/1501152/barry-humphries-skin-cancer-health-surgery-age-news-latest-update
  24. Paul Bearer

    David Bennett

First ever recipient of an animals heart. Modern medicine at its finest. Guess they saved his bacon. I wonder how long he's got now. Wasn't famous before the operation, but confident he'll get a QO when he dies.
  25. Grim Reaper

    Jean-Luc Godard

    The Jean-Luc Godard thread.
