    Piper Laurie

Thought it was time she got her own thread. Actress and Hollywood royalty Piper Laurie (wiki) turns 90 tomorrow. A surviving star of Hollywood's Golden era, she was nominated for an Oscar three times (Carrie, Children of a Lesser God, and The Hustler). To later audiences, probably best known for playing the scheming villain Catherine Martell on Twin Peaks during the 1990s. She had several acting credits in 2018... but none since. Video interview of her here from March 2021. Looks ok for now but worth keeping an eye on. Picked by 5 teams in the DDP this year.

    Dianne Feinstein

Pre-historic Senator of California, Dianne Feinstein, sells her estate at Lake Tahoe. Is the couple (she's married to lung cancer survivor billionaire investor Richard Blum) being forced to downsize? https://nypost.com/2021/06/25/dianne-feinstein-lists-41m-lake-tahoe-estate/?utm_campaign=SocialFlow&utm_source=P6Twitter&utm_medium=SocialFlow

    Yevgeny Prigozhin

I was really surprised that he didn't have a thread yet. Or a pool. I say July, 21, 2023. I haven't decided if he jumped out a window, shot himself or accidentally poisoned himself.

    Len Goodman

Len Goodman just came out of surgery for skin cancer. Looks like he wont be needing any further treatment though but I think its probably worth keeping an eye on him for the sake of recurrence https://www.msn.com/en-gb/entertainment/celebrity/strictly-come-dancing-legend-len-goodman-has-surgery-for-skin-cancer-scare/ar-BB18gvgl

    Giorgio Napolitano

Italian President 2006-2015 and Senator for Life, Giorgio Napolitano (b. 1925) Frail after an aorta surgery in 2018, the popular pool pick and kingmaker in Italian politics will be 96 next month. His political career started in 1944, joined the Communist Party in 1945 and elected to the Chamber of Deputies in 1953. After he became the President of Italy in 2006 at the age of 80, he turned the role of the President of Italy from a ceremonial role to a very influential one. He was re-elected in 2013 at the age of 87 but resigned in 2015 at the age of 89. After that he has focused on growing more spots on the top of his head. Which one will go first, Napolitano or Berlusconi?

    Barry Bennell

Rushed to hospital after being found 'unconscious at hotel'.
  9. She's quadraplegic and she set off today to sail the channel single handed. Can you be 'handed' when nothing below the neck works? Anyway, it's brave to the point of suicidal since she's dependent on blowing through straws to steer herself. There's some damn big ships going up and down that sea lane, it'll be dark part of the time. Etc etc.

    Mohamed Al-Fayed

What about al Fayed? Paul Burrell seems to believe he's dying....

    Rene' Rivkin

And did A lot of people may have never heard of this guy outside Australia, a guru in the stock market, self made Millionaire, it all got too much for a man who craved attention.
  12. Paul Bearer

    Michael Parkinson

Seems to be having a bit of a resurgence at the moment being mentioned in a couple of ( over 50's) adverts. Was also on Chris Evans radio show this morning. At 83, thought he might be worth a punt. (Couldn't find a thread for him, apologies if one exists)

    Osama Bin Laden

I'm surprised Osama bin Laden wasn't on this year's deathlist. While he's proven pretty resilient since getting more than he bargained for post-911, I'd say with a US election in November, there's a good chance the Americans will manage to blow up whatever mountain hole Osama is squirreled away in. And in the end, that's probably good news for him, what with all those virgins waiting for him in the afterlife . . .

    Zsa Zsa Gabor

Should Zsa Zsa be on this years list or 2006? She has many different ages such as being 95 88 and 86 years old? She was always known to lie about her age. I see her as being a fair canidate.

    Bhumibol Adulyadej

This fella is hanging by the skin of his teeth and has been for years, I doubt he will be included in next years list as most peeps don't know him but I live in Thailand and he can't last much longer he's got every illness under the sun. Please don't tell anyone my name or they will come for me in the middle of the night and ship me off to the Bangkok Hilton for etnerity!

    Alexander Litvinenko

Russian Dissident Alexander Litvinenko has been poisoned allegedly by the KGB. I don't know about you, but I think we have a high new entry to the DDP possibles chart!

    DJ Casper

New Jersey media outlet Thirteen PBS seem to have jumped the gun earlier today and accidentally announced DJ Casper had died. As many of you know, he's long been a popular pick on DL across various pools after being diagnosed with both kidney and neuroendocrine cancers in 2016. In 2018, he announced that he had been spared by the mercy of God and that he was a changed man etc. etc. but apparently not... A quick look on Facebook reveals several posts from family and friends, requesting prayers, claiming he's "gravely ill" and in his last days. Here, here, and here. If true, a sad DDP miss as he isn't picked. I believe I'm right in saying last picked in 2020? No doubt someone will moan but I think he's big enough to merit his own thread. Plus 1) he doesn't really fit nicely into any others and 2) I never create any bloody threads round here so lay off the hate

    Shinzo Abe

Longest-serving Japanese PM in history, already stepped down from the role once in 2007 due to chronic ulcerative colitis, has recently visited hospital twice in the space of a few days - sparking concern about his health across Glorious Nippon. He's refused to reveal what the purpose of the visits was, and chronic ulcerative colitis is a risk factor for colon cancer.

    Tony Bennett

That is how people like that go - suddenly without notice sending the fans, the nation and the world into shock over the loss of a great and enduring entertainer. But as we all know when the time is up the time is up no matter who, what or where you are. Bennett is 86 and seems to be doing well but that will serve as the shocker for the disbellief. It's easy to put people on the list that are obviously aged and looking half dead already, like Kirk Douglas and others. But the hard part is picking someone that no one would suspect is going to just kick over and.............well you know. I just have this feeling lately about Tony, even played some of his songs on YouTube - check out "if I ruled the world". Well maybe Tony does rule the world the way he is still at the top of the game, you know? What do you think?
  23. The Daredevil

    Jane Birkin

Yes, in lieu of the ongoing health battles of this icon of French, Hollywood and British cinema, it’s time she gets a thread.
