What? A forum called Deathlist--What else did you expect?

Although, sometimes we point out grammar mistakes too. But in you're [sic] case I can't be bothered.

Yeah, and when he went to the doctor he said, "I feel bad, I knew that I would Yeah".

Apparently he went on to say "...feel like an 'Ex-machine"...

[Note the careful use of the apostrophe]

Looks like James Brown might Cark it this year, he has several risk factors:

Did Prison Time in 1988 for a high speed police chase.

Charged with Felony Assault by his 3rd wife, 4 times.

In 1998, admitted to hospital for painkiller addiction.

Currently has Prostate cancer and Diabetes.

Being sued for a 1988 rape at gunpoint, which caused the victim to develop a thyroid condition.

Arrested for Gun, and Marijuana possesion in 1998.

Addicted to Alchohol.

I find it amazing that he has lived this far, he will be 72 this year.

Sorry, I'm blaming eBay for my delayed reaction. I still think a delayed reaction is better than no reaction

Why do you see the need to start a new thread for that?

Oops, when I searched James Brown, this post must have slipped my eyes. No need to get snappy now

He seems in rude health to me !!!!

Usher, who won three awards, including Contemporary R&B Album for Confessions, wowed audiences with a energetic dance routine and performance of "Caught Up," before being joined by Godfather of soul James Brown. Brown, who recently overcame cancer, sang his classic "Sex Machine," and left the major dance moves to Usher, whom he hugged after the performance, proclaiming the younger artist "The new Godson."

This is a review of the Grammy awards.

So that's 1 number 1 for every ten albums he made - not a very good strike rate. About 1% if you reckon that each album has ten songs on it. Must be a lot of dross there.

Have you any information about whether he's about to die - maybe we could include him on the 2007 list?

I believe it's respect for, rather than respect to

According to Wiki he has had exactly zero number 1 hits in the US, and no, the R&B chart doesn't count. And I count about 75 albums, which while a lot, is a long way from 170. Not that 170 albums in a 50 year career would exactly scream quality.

One source of comfort for the man if his health starts to give out big time is that if he can't gig he's still the most sampled man in history and since most samples come from records where his band was paid a salary and Brown got the writing credit, regardless of who came up with the licks, it's Brown who makes the cash.

Spare a thought for Clyde Stubblefield - Brown's drummer off and on. It's often Stubblefield's drums that get lifted and sampled, Stubblefield even came up with some of the drum patterns, but he don't get no royalty.

Way back in about 1992 Polydor - part of Universal these days - had two full time legal execs doing nowt all week but tracking down James Brown samples and chasing those responsible for the money they owed.

That rant index of 52 is one of the highest I can remember. Is there a "top ten" anywhere? Following the demise of Top of the Pops earlier in the year, it might be a nice homage to pay.
