Deaths of The Silver Screen Deadpool II

Recommended Posts

I go looking for vaguely thematic movies with sufficiently famous cast to be certain to obit, with the probability of dying being more or less a tertiary consideration. Which definitely shouldn't be a winning strategy, nor have done as well as it did in the first round.

I chose films I  have enjoyed and whose cast are getting on in years. This time round there were two films in the running and I wished I had chosen the other one as I would have had a hit. [Not saying who or which film as I may still use it next time round]

I chose Nobody Runs Forever for sentimental reasons as well as for its elderly cast.  I was the last film I watched with my dad before he got ill.

Cloris Leachman a hit for @En Passant

And very rapidly Hal Holbrook moves @En Passanta into a winning position only requiring the centarian Nehemiah Persoff for The People Next Door to emerge triumphant.

Anyone who is going to overtake him better get their skates on

At least somebody with a team of, you know, actors, will be giving @gcreptile a run for his money.

Nobody Runs Forever aka The High Commissioner (1968)

Christopher Plummer

Derren Nesbitt

I am off the mark.

I didn’t participate in this DP.  I was told entering a week late was too late on a DP that lasts two years.  Haha that person got dropped as a bairn.

Looking forward to the next round, thank you!

I am looking even more forward to picking Time Bandits again for the 3rd round! This time with Shelley Duvall and whoever is still alive of Monty Python.

I even missed a quicker victory with that movie by not picking Malcolm Dixon who died in April.

Shelley Duvall grants a rare interview, her first in five years.

Some new pictures of her in the article. She looks good! 71, quit Hollywood in 2002 and then moved to Texas. Has some demons with her mental health hence her becoming a recluse, but all in all I’d say she should be around for a while yet.

So @gcreptilegets a hit with Rush Limbaugh and is now in a winning position awaiting the passing of Liz Sheridan who had the memorable role of Woman in Car in Forget Paris.

We have a fight on our hands

Now, statistically, En Passant is actually the favourite, in the battle Nehemiah Persoff vs Liz Sheridan. It's a centenarian male vs. nonagenarian female.

But you are the defending champion. That has to count for something.

And even if it doesn't my historical ability to finish 3rd in any 2 horse race certainly does.

I also hold the arguably higher moral ground with three actual thesps. Another poor omen.

The ignominy of my valiant luvvies being beaten by:

A basketball player

A right wing shock jock

Has to be pretty close to a nailed on certainty.

Let's not forget the possibility of a late showing from the remainder of the field, which when I looked, was not multiple teams of healthy 20 year olds.

@RoverAndOut has got himself a hit for Quartet with Trevor Peacock

Well that's the banker gone, hit and miss whether my other two go - think I may be scuppered by an opera singer.

Would the 'remainder of the field' kindly get back in its box? I've never won a thing here in 8 years, don't dash my hopes.

*Yes, in fairness I've not entered a lot in all that time. Be that as it may...

With a couple of teams possibly close to victory, time to take a minute to pay respects to my team member (!) Eric Edwards -- the only person to appear in a porn movie in his teens, 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s.

He may not have brought about world peace or won a Nobel prize, but in a 50 year career he demonstrably made a lot of women very happy and helped bring pleasure to millions of people as  a result.

Respect.
