Dying Probably

The Dead of 2021

Recommended Posts

I know we are only 10 days in but based on the start to the year I don’t think there will be many celebrity/well known deaths this year. I think this year is going to be a damp squib unfortunately.

Per Telegraph Obituaries this morning, British director Michael Apted of the 'Up' series has died aged 79 and pioneering journalist Katharine Whitehorn (I recommend her autobiography) has died at 92.

Well, what if one Covid sufferer to stumbled past Brinsworth House and had a sneezing fit? ;)

Some gaffa tape and a couple of binbags will suffice. But keep up the good (questionable) work.

I like you approach, straightly from the 60s: wait for the journals and find the obits. Always a surprise.

still waiting for obit though

Aye, so the obits I've clocked so far are fairly desperate and marginal efforts, more likely created by algorithm than human. I considered her for HPDP action but wondered about the obit chances. She's on the Deathrace masterlist. I'll award points pending a better obit (because surely some half-decent Canadian news source will pick this up).

Hmm

Got the work security on the computer atm - so that site is off limits. That said, I'm guessing she'd set a Deathrace precedent where a hate-speech site could be considered "specialist online" (I mean, other than blatant incitement, what else is it?)

Here's the obit hurdle Shaidle has to clear in my low-hanger fest of a dead pool:

9 - An "obit" in the context of the Deathrace is any news report in English from a reliable source. Such sources include - but are not limited to - UK national press, UK national broadcast organisations, foreign press and broadcast organisations with an English language thread to their communication, trade press in English, local news organisations reporting in English and coverage in specialist online sites, such as those monitoring the well-being of super-centenarians. Where dispute arises over the qualifying nature of a news source for obit purposes MPFC's decision is final. But he wants fast and furious competition and is generally very amenable to low hanging dead pool fruit of all varieties.

this one should easily be obited !

Death from dementia (or dementia-related causes) at 58, probably caused by a fall from a horse when she was in her 20s. Shows how dangerous head injuries are.

Horses don't kill people, people with horses kill people.

So, Wiki says she was reported dead a year ago - we're sure she's really dead this time, right?

Aye, even with dementia - that'd likely be memorable!

Wiki reckons she's alive. Also lists some of those many films - Bare Wench, Bikini Hotel etc.
