People who gave a Royal Institution Christmas Lecture

1 I've read one or more books by these.

2 What an interesting man! I wasn´t aware he´s also a painter and film maker. For me he´s just that The Naked Ape chap.

Lewis Wolpert being reported as another faller from the above list:

A Crumble pick for the DDP 2021.

Just seen this pic on his Wikipedia page of an After Dark appearance with Germaine Greer. Easy to forget that she didn’t always look like a school dinner lady.

Wolpert's one of the names I recall contributing the DDP bio for years back. Still like it.

Eminent developmental biologist. Endured controversy in 2014 when plagarised passages from Wikipedia were discovered in one of his recent books. He could probably assist with the DDP bios then…

A 'hit' for me in the Derby dead pool  in  my Gooseberry Crumble team.

Also a unique pick.

The US Navy's first Seal, Harry Beal has died aged 90; in addition to being the first Seal, he's also credited with pulling John Glenn out of the water after his Friendship 7 flight. He hasd a bridge named in his honour last year.

It probably wouldn't have got a mention had Christopher Plummer not died, but the original West End Maria, Jean Bayless, has died aged 88. (Warning, links to the Daily Mail)

First he bought a zoo.
Then he bought the farm.

Officials said that the Little Ponderosa Zoo's founder and director, James Cox, died Tuesday. On Jan. 28, officials with the zoo said that he was in the hospital for heart surgery and that he had a weak heart as well as pneumonia.  Cox was moved from critical care to the hospital's heart floor in late January, officials said in a post on Facebook. Then, they said he hoped to be home to recover before undergoing heart surgery.
