German actor Günter Lamprecht has died at the age of 92.

Damn, he was scheduled for my German theme team next year...

https://www.faz.net/agenturmeldungen/dpa/guenter-lamprecht-mit-92-gestorben-18369542.html

Edit: I think he is best known for working with Rainer Werner Fassbinder, for his role in Das Boot (directed by Wolfgang Petersen who died on August 12, 2022) and playing in several Tatort episodes.

The USA's most favourite German in the 60s and 70s, actress Elke Sommer, sold her Hollywood mansion in March:

https://www.dirt.com/gallery/entertainers/actors/elke-sommer-house-holmby-hills-1203462922/

Back in Bavaria, she almost had her legs amputated because their blood circulation was pretty much completely gone:

(The Bild article also has a picture of Franz Beckenbauer who kind of looks worse than she does, even though he's five years younger. In fact, I think he's looking slightly sick of cancer.)

This is a real miss for our list, because our last year's No. 36, actor Ralf Wolter, has died at age 95.

He appeared in nearly 220 films and television series in his over 60 years as a character actor and is best known for his portrayal of Sam Hawkins in the Karl May films.

At least the people of Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein can sleep soundly tonight knowing he won't be driving along their street anymore.

And he would have been next year. Unfortunately, I picked up on his silence too late, roughly mid-year. It's always suspicious when the "public intellectuals" stop commenting on everything (which is why Martin Walser and Jürgen Habermas are not yet great candidates, though I guess at their age, anything is possible - and some names you dont want to miss.).

Franz Vranitzky, former chancellor of Austria, NOT dead at 85, but a parliamentary committee still has a silent minute after FAKE NEWS:

The article blames "the account of an Italian who had declared dead several other prominent people before".
