Hmm, wow, makes me sad. I kind of liked him. "Died after a quick heavy illness". Sounds like another pancreatic cancer victim.

Was this guy basically the Des Lynam of Germany?

German right wing politician and physician Axel Gehrke has died aged 79: https://www.stern.de/gesellschaft/regional/afd-bundestagsabgeordneter-axel-gehrke-gestorben-30766964.html

During the 1990s Gehrke served as  professor for physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Hannover Medical School and as president of the German society for  physical medicine and rehabilitation as well.

Since 2017 he was member of the federal parliament "Bundestag" for the Euro-critic party "Alternative für Deutschland" ("Alternative for Germany), short AfD.

His Wikipedia article says, we won't stand for re-election in September 2021.

Franz Trojan, legendary New German Wave drummer  has died aged 64.

https://www.n-tv.de/leute/Spider-Murphy-Gang-Drummer-Trojan-ist-tot-article22824183.html

Trojan was a founding member of "Spider Murphy Gang", whose most famous song was "Skandal im Sperrbezirk" ("Scandal in restricted area" - Trust me, the German version can be shouted out more elegant.)
He left the band in 1992  and broke off all contact with the other band members. Maybe one reason why his death was noticed two weeks later.

A commonly forgotten face of the 1950s and 1960s, Austrian film and stage actress Herta Staal, has died aged 91.

https://www.t-online.de/unterhaltung/stars/id_90907454/herta-staal-91-schauspielerin-und-filmstar-der-1950er-und-1960er-ist-tot.html

She was one of the last living actresses of the  "technically silver but unprofessionally postcoloured" screen-era. She appeared in various shallow, kitschy, romantic Heimat-movies of the post-war period.

TV actor Heinz Lieven has died aged 92.

https://www.zdf.de/nachrichten/panorama/heinz-lieven-schauspieler-tot-100.html

He was best known for his roles in tv series like "Adelheid und ihre Mörder", "Notruf Hafenkante", "Tatort" and "Großstadtrevier". (No need to translate these titles, since none of these series was internationally known.)
In 2011 he had a role in "Cheyenne - This Must Be The Place" together with Sean Penn and was guest at the Cannes-festival as well.

A person of local "fame" is dead: Siegfried Roland Borchardt, aka SS-Siggi, has finally met his idol Adolf Hitler at the age of 67. Borchardt was an active member of  several neo-Nazi groups, lastly the "National Resistance Dortmund", and had multiple legal convictions, which stopped him from entering the political main stage. https://taz.de/Neonazi-Groesse-Borchardt-gestorben/!5805268/

As a politician, he had a short but painful career. Painful for the audience. SS-Sigi was functionary of the later banned right wing party "Freedom German Workers' Party" (Freiheitlichen Deutschen Arbeiterpartei). In the 2014 local elections in Dortmund, he won a seat on the city counci for "The Rigts" (Die Rechte), a neo-nazi-party, but resigned two months later.

Right, can happen very quick with hit No. 10. Our pick Tony Marshall is actually on ICU because of COVID!

Stroke survivor and suffering from end-stage kidney failure... fully vaccinated, but this won't save him.

Discharged. Thanks to being vaccinated according to the man himself, but this surely won't convince any remaining anti vax shithead.

Another actor of Germany's longest running soap opera "Lindenstraße" has died: Kostas Papanastasiou. He was 84 and suffered from dementia.

He is actually Greek, but is closely associated with this German series where he played his role from 1985 to 1996 (guess what: as a Greek restaurant owner!).

He also owned a restaurant in real life, long before his acting activity.
