The D-A-CH-DeathList 2024 (page 18)

Recommended Posts

The next big miss of our D-A-CH-DeathList by just a few points is German journalist and author Klaus Rainer Röhl, who died on November 30th, just one day shy to his 93rd birthday.

He is best known as founder, owner, publisher and editor-in-chief of "konkret", the most influential magazine on the German political left from the 1960s to the early 1970s. He has since become critical of communism and leftist tendencies.

For me personally he is best known as the husband of German journalist Ulrike Meinhof before her descent to left-wing terrorism (Rote Armee Fraktion).

We are on double figures!!!

Horst Eckel, German football player and world champion of 1954, has died at age 89.

He was the last surviving player from the 1954 World Cup final and the entire German World Cup squad.

German comedian Mirko Nontschew suddenly dead at 52:

Was part of the original crew of the German version of Saturday Night Live. Actually a formative show in the 90s and a genuinely funny german show.

Ooops we* did it again: One fine list with 50 German, Austrian or Swiss people, likely to die in 2022!

*we are: gcreptile, Prophet, TomTomTelekom, WEP and Book.

Our first attempt in 2021 was well received by forum members and also the list was successful in itself: 10 hits, double figues, not so bad at all– that's why we wanted to try a second time.

The result will be shown in the next post. Some picks are famous outside the D-A-CH-states, some picks I had to research by myself but hey – they will all receive an official germanspeaking obituary. Keep 'em coming! :)

Viel Erfolg, D-A-CH-Liste!!! :flame:

The designer Karl Clauss Dietel has died aged 87 on January 2nd. The form and product designer was born in Reinholdshain near Glauchau in 1934 and designed numerous GDR products.

Dieter preferred to be known as "Formgestalter" ("Shaper") instead of "designer. Some of his creations were the Moped Simson S50, the diamond wheels, the typewriter "Erika" or the radio RK5.

That's a tragic one:

Cristian Ghilli, two-time junior world champion in clay pigeon shooting, has now shot himself in a hunting accident.

19-year-old Ghili was one of the most talented youngsters in his sports. On his hunting vaccation with friends in Pisa province, he had bent down to pick up new cartridges and shot himself in the abdomen.

Another original has died:

Stefan Öhlschläger, who was something like a paradise bird on Munichs steet together with his twin brother Christian, has died aged 73.

The two men wore stilettos, hot pants and other clothes for women in public, making headlines as "Schrillinge" or enfant terribles of the queer scene.

Not really a miss since he wasn't even a choice for the list. That could rather be the miss ;)

Yes, I agree, but nor was Siegfried Fischbacher in 2021. And he was a face-pal-worthy miss.

Well, he seems to have hit the mark. Not everyone manages to shoot themselves that way.
