Just in case that gap isn't met in the next 9 hours, I've sent a team in for Joey for the next round. Utterly lacking in much inspiration, however.

Now would be a good time to hear things about a former President of Algeria

I just submitted my May team.

Thanks to QR for your sportsmanship.

Best of luck to my daunting opponent, Banana.

You were the last one I was waiting for at this point.
Yep, that’s right. Very uncharacteristically everybody projected to advance has a submitted a team with 2 and a half hours to go. This might be a first in cup history...

I needed to check all the hospice news to the last minute to try to keep up with Banana!

I'm going to let go of the Balakrishna hope and congratulate Reptile on the win and being a tough opponent. It was a bumhole-clenching match which easily could have gone either way, and I never felt comfortable with my lead with the very dying picks he had, and I wish him luck in future matches.

Thank you Joey for hosting the cup, it's the first time I've participated and it really was good fun. I will take great pleasure in deleting my list of vaguely famous Indian actors/politicians and look forward to compiling it from afresh next year. I hope Mr. Pillai brings you all shitloads of points.

Commiserations Book! imo a swiftly improving player and I was lucky with some of the breaks of fate this month. Best of luck in the future.

With equal due respect to maryport and CalebH (whom I know little of but as a Quarterfinal opponent will clearly be tough) but Spade couldn't have got a dream draw any better if he'd rigged it himself!

Let’s see how well picking a bunch of critically ill Indian COVID patients works out.

I expect the first hit will be Terry Lubbock. I had him as the joker in the team submitted, in case, you know, Larry Pressler and Bruce Golding had carked on Friday. On his death bed.

Yes, I expected Lubbock to die literally in the hour of the turn of the month.

Stage IV pancreatic cancer, on morphine, etc...

Thanks Perhaps, that was a nerve-wretching round. An impressive performance on your side, I think.

Randhir Kapoor is the one I came across.

Congratulations on your third round win. You have as good a chance as anybody to win it all.

Six shared picks between Cpt. Chorizo and me. That's quite something.

We have different jokers though, but maybe that wont matter, as we also picked each other's not-joker.

Since it's quarters I'll give a little overview of my team

K. R. Gouri Amma, Indian politician - 101 and hospitalised in critical condition with bladder infection/disease and had a death hoax.

R. Balakrishna Pillai, Indian politician - Hospitalised with "respiratory issues" and on ventilator. 86 years old.

Kat Bjelland, Babes in Toyland frontwoman - Suffering from stage 4 liver failure, *supposedly* in hospice since she can't get a transplant sue to her addiction. I'm not entirely sure whether she's actually in hospice or not, because her sister's post didn't mention as to my knowledge.

Hemen Das, Indian politician - Suffering from COVID and in ICU.

Rodolfo Garcia, Argentine rock drummer - Suffered a stroke and is considered brain dead. Slight obit risk.

Ed Grant, American local track & field historian - Spade pick from last month, in hospice after suffering from a fall and heart attack. Probably a DNR case if he suffers another.

Carlos Timoteo Griguol, Argentine football manager - Critically ill suffering from "lung condition/infection". Health condition stated to be delicate and had a death hoax.

Sabbam Hari, Indian politician - Critically ill on ventilator with COVID.

Bunny Matthews, American cartoonist - In hospice with central nervous system lymphoma. Surprised he lasted until this month. (JOKER)

Som Parkash, Indian politician - Critically ill on oxygen support with COVID.

Anamika Saha, Indian actress - Critically ill on oxygen support with COVID.

Bunny Matthews sounds dire. I don't know why my searches didn't pick him up. But sometimes you just need the right timing. I guess that explains my Steve Davis unique last month.

And like Steve Davis, Bunny Matthews is a known name on the forum, I posted the return of cancer myself a couple of years ago. It's been a slow-moving illness, which is why he's still alive, I guess.

This month, it's probably peak Indian Corona isn't it? Hell, so many names from that region. Bangladesh, too. It has a bit of a lottery factor to it.

And well, that's (hopefully) the biggest wave of death we'll see in our life times.

India was so lucky to get through the first two waves so well. It probably helped that the neighbors to the East are fans of "Zero Covid" and that there is probably not much border-crossing with Pakistan in the West.

Accidentally, India was shielded from the first two waves. But it still trickled in, only to explode right now. A huge tragedy.

Aye cheers, prior to this year if memory serves me correctly I'd only ever won one round of this competition properly (i.e.: other progress was by byes). I'll keep giving it a go but Spade is class on current form.
