At times of strife, conflict and natural disasters or deaths of national leaders, songs tend to be banned due to their titles or lyrics. List them here with your thoughts or reasons

For starters, The Cure, Close to me. Due to social distancing, you shouldn't be getting close to anyone.

About 95% of music released after 1985.

Percentage increases for anything produced by boybands, dance/house/rave/trance etc music of the early 90s and rap music (with its preceding silent C).

 

And 'lonely this Christmas' by Mud, not because it's dreadful in itself, but had it never existed 'Wombling Merry Christmas' would have been the 1974 Christmas number one.

I'm sure this discussion already exists somewhere on here.

 

There are loads of songs that people think should be banned because they only listened to a line or phrase in the lyrics, and don't understand the context.

E.g. any song containing the words "little girl".

In 1970  BBC banned Lola by the kinks not only because of the songs lyrics about a transvestite but the line which included Coca Cola fell foul of product placement rules and was later re recorded to cherry cola

If you bin off the likes of Slade and Wham and The Pogues, wearing though they can be, you’ll only see newer, shitter ones being released by the likes of Little Mix or AJ Twatty or Ariana fucking Grande.
