I’m very aware.

However, both profiles displayed use a description for the politician and each uses a different picture of the politician.

just give a bit of time and all will be sorted - the pointing out of the errors is an important and useful part of the process but then they need fixed which is normally more complex than would appear.

Thanks for your patience.

No worries, of course, maybe Duffy (actor) is taking this year off being a dead pool candidate and he'll emerge again next year - we'll all say we thought he was dead, but in the end we'll realise we all just dreamed it but "it seemed so real!"

Thought it would be interesting to look at the oldest entries in the DDP this year. Strangely enough, there are exactly 101 centenarian entries as of 18 Jan 2022 (with Ray Anthony the next to join the club on 20 Jan), but that's if we exclude Apilado and Baker Miracle, who were already confirmed to be deceased before the starting line.

I'll update this only once – at the end of the year – to see how many scored in the end.

The 101 oldest entries in the DDP 2022

1 Kane Tanaka b. 2 Jan 1903 [dead – and a hit!]
2 Sœur Andre b. 11 Feb 1904

Something that stands out this year is that the # of world's oldest type picks is low (just the top two). I remember years back people used to pick loads of the supercentenarians off of the top 100 list on Wiki. If we ignore Fauja Singh and Virginia McLaurin, there are no longevity myth picks either (i.e. world's "oldest" man at 124 from village in India type picks). Have the new rules disallowed such names or are people just getting smarter with their picks over time?

Mostly the latter. I don't think anyone's actually tested the committee with a longevity claimant, though we did reject a few centenarians on insufficient notability.

Re the oldest entries, I'll cop for fielding Singh, Boscawan and Reynolds and largely sharing them (main team) with a theme team called Old as Dirt. Despite the diminutive points haul on offer they're an attempt to pick people who won't see action a year later and a reaction to desperately ill but depressingly determined types who've mocked my efforts at selection in the last couple of years.

Incidentally, Singh...any detailed write up on his improbable athletic career tends to include mention of the fact there are those willing to dispute his age and no hard evidence by way of a birth certificate to settle the matter.

I didn't pick Muazzez Cig because she's been picked the last 5 DDPs consistently. Had to double check after Ulitzers list, but no, no one has her - doomed to a jinxed death in 2022 now?

This is a 2020 pick that was adjudicated on back then. The decision seems to be based on the fact that he is part of her 'entourage' in that I suppose she was really young when she became famous and there are articles about him going back a while.

I haven't rechecked that summary is accurate but that's what the decision last year was roughly based on.

Hmm. I left him out of my 20 because he seemed no more eligible than Dave Marsh, and I thought having all of Marsh, Church and Amy Price was leaning into my subs a bit much. Ah well.

By the way, in People I Think Might Die In 2022's team, Michael Fish is not the hurricane denying weatherman but PITMD's perennial pick, the 60's designer.

Thanks for your hard work!

Church is a shit pick anyway.

Only a tiny minority of teams had any disallowed picks - most choosing to stay away from picks that in their own judgment were FFBI.

On the other hand one team had 4 disallowed picks and so has only 19 live names in the game.

One other team clearly knew their picks were dodgy and so supplied 6 subs - in the end only 3 were needed but the Committee will be discussing a max number of subs allowed for disallowed picks because the entrant clearly knew that lots of their team was sitting on the fence of allowability and we shouldn’t encourage that approach.

There is one pick that on paper, we should disallow, but were "eh whatever" about. Because they have a 0.00000001% chance of obiting (and may already be dead already), the team that picked them has a 0.00000001% chance of winning, and selfishly I get too much a kick out of the image I chose for them...

I am surprised no one took a punt on multiple Rape charge facing footballer Benjamin Mendy in case he ends it all.

Be kinda fitting if a footballer scored significantly in the Deathlist Cup, mind, thanks for the tip!

His trial was postponed earlier this month  from February to at least June so it’s less likely any suicide what happen until near then.

What, you rang him to check? I'm assuming he could be suicidal the next time the guy from JustEat clocks who he's delivering to and  calls him a rapist to his face.

Suicides for those on remand tend to more often occur shortly or during trials

Aye, but the public profile here makes our man summat of a wild card. Unlikely to top himself IMHO. The recent convicted footballing nonces didn't and Ched Evans has hauled himself from Fleetwood to Preston, dazzling defences with his skills as opposing supporters save their choicest insults for him.

Idk whose team Yahoo Will Do is, but I'm gonna assume the David West picked is the baseball player and not the footballer.

Whoever picked them should have specificed with such a common first name and surname. Also existing is  a pretty notable basketballl player. David West was an all star for the  New Orleans Hornets in the 00's,and later won an NBA title as part of the Curry-Durant era Warriors in 2017-2018

Yahoo Will Do is Reptile's C Team, named as such due to its heaviness on Yahoo UK gambles.

I also have a team name quibble in that my second team should be "No One Here Gets Out Alive" rather than "Nobody Here Gets Out Alive".  (Doors lyric as I'm sure everyone recognises.)

Thanks for fixing that.  But there is now a team history attached which isn't mine, as this is a new entry.  Possibly someone used that team name before?
