gcreptile 10,979 Posted January 29, 2022 As the new DDP photos are being collected, and my eyes are starting to twitch from too much screen time, have a quick update: Yes, we lost two heavy criminals Russell Bishop and Mustafa Kayirici. A good joker pick for Salmon Mousse that will be reflected in the scoreboard. Meat Loaf was a big name hit for three people. Banana gets a nice unique hit with Rabbi Israel Dresner. Kenny gets a unique hit with centenarian conductor Everett Lee, who got a New York Times obit but is still waiting for a DDP QO. Finally, Hardy Krüger is a unique hit for The Daredevil, well done! I hope I didn't miss anything, tell me if I do. The Scoreboard sees SalmonMousse at the top with the fresh joker points, risky bet that paid off. Will the lead hold? Torva Messor 280 Posted February 2, 2022 For the next update: my entry Carleton Carpenter departed 31 January 2022 Qualifying Obituary from uk.news.yahoo.com
gcreptile 10,979 Posted February 6, 2022 An update for quite a few hits in the past days: A belated hit for Torva Messor with Marilyn Bergman. As she was not picked in the DDP, it flew a little under my radar. But she's a hit, just as Carleton Carpenter is. Two unique hits for Torva. Norma Waterson is a hit for Yorkshire Banker and DevonDeathTrip. Monica Vitti is a hit for several people, just like Christos Sartzetakis and, of course, Lata Mangeshkar, the latter only picked twice, though - surprising. Finally, Leonard Fenton is the fifth hit and another unique hit for The Daredevil. Rank Team Score 1 Salmon Mousse 413 2 msc 391 3 gcreptile 362 4 Book 349 5 Cpt. Salmon Mousse 473 Posted February 28, 2022 Richard Blum a hit for my team
gcreptile 10,979 Posted March 2, 2022 Have an update....before I leave for a few days... Just like in the DDP we had big names Jane "Nightbirde" Marczewski, Isabel Torres and Catherine Wybourne, the middle one being a unique hit for Banana. Strangely, Nightbirde wasn't a joker pick, though she might just end up being the best possible choice this year. SalmonMousse gets a unique hit with Richard Blum. YorkshireBanker gets a unique hit with Beryl Vertue and finally Wormfarmer gets a unique hit with Jim Hagedorn. Ronnie Hellström is a non-obit here, so far, just like in most other pools. SiMan Baby is also waiting for an obit. I assume it's either very soon or not at all... The result is the following scoreboard: Rank Team Score 1 Salmon Mousse 539 2 msc 482 3 Banana 461 4 gcreptile 453 5 Joey Russ 363 5 An Fear Beag 363 7 Book 349 8 DevonDeathTrip 340 9 Cpt. gcreptile 10,979 Posted April 2, 2022 Alright, update time! The big name on this update is, of course, Tom Parker, who was picked by a lot of players, not by your risk-loving host, though! Some even gambled correctly when they chose him as their joker, going for a few points more than they would have gotten with Gary Burgess. Still, even younger was occasional pick Miguel Van Damme. Vic Elford was another popular pick. Beyond that, we have quite a few unique hits. Gooseberry Crumble scores twice with football picks Gordon Lee and Frank O'Farrell. Salmon Mousse scores with Jean Potvin, some between-the-lines knowledge there. Drol gets a unique hit right from his field of expertise with Mohammad Rafiq Tarar, the former president of Pakistan. René Clemencic hasn't received an obit so far. As a result, the new leader is somebody who has occasionally wondered how and why he wasn't doing better in this pool, but no more, course corrected, it's msc. Captain Hemlock 745 Posted April 2, 2022 I realize I picked all my “punt” picks in this pool, but I’m still surprised to be sitting at 0 one quarter in. Maybe Joan Jara will pass so @chilean way and myself can get on the board.

By sheer coincidence it hasn't happened here. I think Steve McMichael might score for you relatively soon.

gcreptile 10,979 Posted April 6, 2022 Alright, let's do this... because Tom Smith and Nehemiah Persoff are pretty big hits. It also gives me the opportunity to quickly add Cpt Chorizo's unique hits Scott Hall and Johnny Brown. Edit: Oops, Of course, we ALSO had the popular names June Brown and Estelle Harris. It's been a lot in just a few days... The merry-go-round at the top continues as the new leader is now ... Banana. Chorizo also makes up good ground. Chilean Way gets his first points. gcreptile 10,979 Posted May 8, 2022 Alright, where were we? There was a bit of a slump in the DDP, though not really all that much. Still, I was also sick for two weeks and so the hits kept slowly accumulating.... this is going to get busy... First and most of all, we've just had the almost universal pick George Perez as a big name in this competition. YoungWillz gets an interesting unique hit with James Anderton, as written above. Three people score with longtime frail Kenyan president Mwai Kibaki. The Daredevil gets a hit with french actor Michel Bouquet, that was a fine selection. An Fear Beag scores big twice with Mosharaf Hossain Rubel and Mike Bossy, very, very big, congratulations. Bossy was picked by other players, too. And Mosharraf Hossain was also picked by a player who I'm not sure is still in the game (also picked by that person was Michel Bouquet). Some players get points for Kane Tanaka, not many points, but they do - hey, three points is better than zero! Two players score with centenarian US music executive Art Rupe. And last but not least, three players score with ice hockey legend Guy LaFleur. Well, that careful checking of the past month also showed me that Kenny still needs points for centenarian British dancer Henry Danton, sorry! ALSO, TorvaMessor gets unique points for Conrad Janis who received a New York Times obit back in March (also Yahoo IIRC). Tracy Kashi is a non-obit for me, I think I have to rely now mostly on these "Other Lives" Guardian obits that drop in 3-4 months late, but I might have to accept that this is a world in which Belinda Sykes and Tracy Kashi do not obit. Yorkshire Bank is also sitting on a non-obit with Sonny Caldinez, and I'm not sure if there is hope. SalmonMousse is still waiting for an obit for Belgian singer Arno that counts. Let's see, but maybe a year-end roundup is the best remaining chance. Kenny also placed a bet on ancient polish runner Stanislaw Kowalski, but he sadly isn't getting anything. Alright, you picked people all across the globe and from all kinds of fields. I hope this update covers at least most of it, if not, tell me. The resulting scoreboard shows a small switch at the top, it's the change of Guy LaFleur vs. Mike Bossy - funnily enough, two North American Ice Hockey legends.
