She’s not a no name here in America but she has a good chance to go in 2023

Disagree. As a fellow American, never heard of her before this site

Roy Wood has cancelled a concert in November because of "medical issues". Considering it's so many months away, doesn't sound great sadly.

He's now cancelled his entire 10 show tour from the end of 2022. (It was just one or two of them when TKOM posted this update above.)

I read in a Roy Wood FB group that his illness is related to diabetes, though I can’t be sure of the veracity.

I really hope he gets better. To me, he is a total pop genius.

Doesn't sound good, he's obese with a history of heart problems and alcohol/drug use. Also had a fall a while before the stroke.

Not a lot of information on his current condition but apparently he can't talk but can communicate by pencil and paper

Yes early days but the signs as reported aren't  good or encouraging.  If he is still with us at the end of the year I am assuming his lighting director awards and credentials would make him a valid pick in his own right? But we would need  the runners of pools/competitions  like the DDP  we would  need @gcreptile and @Death Impends to confirm  whether he would be a qualifying pick or not because he is seen as not being famous enough in his own right.

I hope he doesn't need a heart transplant because a good heart these days is hard to find.

He's had enough of a media presence off being Meghan's dad that I'd be fine with him as a pick anyway, but yeah Emmy winner is a legit pick by default. As evidenced by him already being a DDP pick this year!

Chiam See Tong

87-year-old former leader of the Singapore People's Party, politician and winner of South East Asia's 2022 Bob Dole Look-Alike contest. He suffered a stroke in 2008 that left him with lasting effects and has since suffered another stroke  (around 2009-2010) and a fall in 2013. In addition he has suffered from Parkinson's for over a decade.

Here's a video of him paying respects to the late Lee Kuan Yew in 2015, already looked like a corpse:

I am going to share some gossip that I have read on other places on the Internet,  a whisper that came to me indirectly- neither of which I can vouch  for but seemed plausible and believable  to my judgement  and some  speculation or amateur reasoning of my own on the health of a British celebrity!

First name- Joel Grey.  On a handful of other places on the Internet  there was a claim made that to acknowledge  the 50th anniversary of the film Cabaret  the bosses putting together the Oscars really wanted  to have an onstage appearance  from Joel Grey as well as Liza Minnelli and really thought there was a good chance but apparently  health and frailty issues with Joel  meant that they couldn't  pull it off.  A decline in his wellbeing in recent  months rather than something sudden or minor was behind the disappointment according to this information  being teased and hinted at.

The second one doesn't involve a specific  name but some interesting  information.  I was told very indirectly  recently ie information has gone through a chain of people so information is way beyond  second  hand that a veteran Coronation Street star sometime in the next year  is being given an honour like an obe or Dameship /Knighthood Sir.  They weren't specific if the person is still a cast member  but they did seem to allude to it being a female  . One of the reasons behind the timing of the award is concern about their long term health.

My money would be on Barbara Knox or Eileen Derbyshire.

And finally  I was surprised to find , at least to the best of my  brief  look through the tributes to June Brown  that there was nothing from Pam St Clement  her former EastEnders costar. They worked together for decades and were known to be friends off screen.  Pam did give a tribute when Barbara Windsor  died. My own suspicion is she is in poor  form.

I could be wrong but that's my feeling.

Pam is 80 next month.

So Joel Grey,  Barbara Knox,  Eileen Derbyshire or another Corrie veteran and Pam St Clement,  all names worth considering for 2023  based on the information I have posted.

Helen Worth has just been awarded an MBE so maybe it’s her. She has had several breaks in recent years.

Very possibly  yes. Thanks. She wasn't  at the top of my list but we will see  what happens in the New Year Honours if any other interesting names come up.
