Hm, they'll need more than that no? They have to have other results go their way too.

(I'm generally useless at this and always get it wrong, but if for once I'm not,  England could already be on 6 by the time they play, Iran could be playing to be on 6 at the same time with a win over USA and the most Wales can now get is 4 if they did beat England).

Oh yeah, results are out of their hands. But, they still need to beat England to stay in the tournament no matter what. There are no results that keep them in the tournament without it now!

With names such as Irvine, Soutar and Leckie and a couple of gingers, can we claim Australia as honorary Scotland?

And sometimes we send convicts to be - see Matt Hancock.

@YoungWillz  What about  Denmarks handsome midfielder   Daniel Wass?

Which players disappointed you sexiness wise?!

First of all, never piss off @Bibliogryphon in one of his threads, it is ok to post here cos you'll just piss off Creep.

Secondly, well, I hate to break it to you but conventional prettiness doesn't do anything for me. I'm maybe a bit weird, but pretty isn't handsome in my book.

Thirdly, what's with all the beards this WC? Very few blokes can wear a beard well, yet the resurgence in popularity can only be ascribed to a new generation of lazy bastards who can't be arsed shaving.

Manbuns and dreads - really?

I've always thought footy in the main was for people too stupid to do anything else, so they revert to doing what they were good at when at school. Around it has grown a culture of money and corruption given due approbation by fans of the game who support it. You know, rather like when some folk thought Peter Kay was funny, so they stick with it and buy tickets for his tired shows, despite knowing he's already made more money than he knows what to do with and never has to work again.

Anyway, I'll try and come up with my starting XI in due course.

As of tonight the current teams in top 16

  1. Netherlands
  2. USA
  3. Argentina
  4. Australia
  5. Japan
  6. Croatia
  7. England
  8. Senegal
  9. Morocco
  10. France
  11. Poland
  12. Spain

Still waiting on Group G and Group H and most likely (this could change dramatically) - Portugal, Brazil, Switzerland and Ghana would go through. For England if they beat Senegal. England will face France or Poland in quarter finals.

Think Portugal and Brazil are already officially through even if they haven’t played the final match of the group stage yet, so it’s really finding the last two

Best match of the whole Finals so far.

If Portugal win tonight, Morocco could decimate the Iberian peninsula....

With Ronaldo not playing tonight it's going to be interesting.

Love that Morocco are through and beat Spain of all countries.

People think that "decimate" is much more destructive than it is.  I think it might be because it has a similar sound to "devastate".

Well, here's what the Australians think: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-09-03/decimate-does-not-mean-to-kill-one-in-every-10/11459980

I'd never call anyone a pedant, mind, just folk have a different view and we should all be willing to listen.

So after watching all the matches in the group stage, the team that looked the sharpest to my eyes was Argentina.  That’s my pick to carry the wee cup home.

I think Croatia will win, in semifinals legit and in finals on penalties again. Or maybe both games on penalties with 0:0 before that and no attacks on goal. Why not? hahahahahahahahaha
