Charles De Gaulle 484 Posted June 26, 2022 Sly Stone turns 80 next year. He was one of the biggest up and coming stars in the musical world until his drug addiction got in the way of his career. His excesses surpassed that of even Keith Richards and Ozzy Osbourne. 3
Charles De Gaulle 484 Posted June 26, 2022 Note to mods. This is the last thread I'll be making today. Just trying to inject some life into this place by starting a couple of threads with big and interesting names. 1
TheKeysOfMarinus 386 Posted June 26, 2022 Good call for a thread. I mentioned Sly as a possible candidate for 2022 in December, but he doesn't seem to be a name getting much traction here. He's had years of financial mismanagement and was reported to be homeless in 2011. That same year he entered rehab for cocaine addiction. That he's made it this far seems quite remarkable. msc 18,384 Posted June 26, 2022 My main recollection of Sly Stone in recent years was I'm sure he was told if he didn't stop drinking he wouldn't see seventy... Good singer, though obviously his big hit is the one I'm most familiar with.

Death Impends 7,924 Posted January 1 So many music octogenaries in recent years have been a bit wow. Sly Stone's octogenary was an utter how the FUCK did he make it.
Gooseberry Crumble 5,321 Posted October 5 Delete as homeless article listed as recent but seems regurgitated or amended from 2020. Apologies!

Google search listed it as from 3 days ago but the actual article is as you say from 2020. I was googling some of the official deathlist names in order to look for crumbs of comfort that there could be progress before the end of the year given the activity and discussion in some other threads but alas it backfired! gcreptile 10,930 Posted October 7 Engagement farming/AI/bots makes research more difficult. I've stumbled a couple of times lately. But always checking the background behind an item can get pretty tedious. It used to be more fun. Dead internet theory...
