Mentioned in a few threads, but no topic started.  Here we go.....

The Rhod Gilbert thread.

Diagnosed with cancer a few months ago.  Maybe he'll create a new comedy routine?

Thought there was new info given the thread. Paul must be getting a head start on the front page threads for 2023. :P

He had throat and neck pain before being diagnosed so most likely oesophageal or head and neck cancer.

Tweet this morning from his wife Sian Harries is very worrying for those of us who are fans:

"Moved house for the third time today since July so Rhod can be close to hospital. Life is a lot at the moment but we’re getting through it with the help of our wonderful friends and family."

Rhod Gilbert interview, confirms stage 4 cancer but ‘feeling positive’.

Jimmy Carr brought this up on The Last Leg last night. Gilbert is too ill to promote his own book, but that his friends are "hopeful" he'll recover soon.

Which wasn't very promising.

Is stage four cancer ever survivable.

It depends what type of cancer. Shannen Doherty has had stage 4 breast cancer for the last six years. She's even gone back to acting.

Well, she's not survived it, just survived with it. For now.

But to answer Crem, John Hartson had quite late stage Stage IV testicular cancer in 2009-2010 and was able to make a full recovery. Depends where it is, when it is diagnosed, and pot luck tbh.

Testicular cancer is the one cancer that Stage Four doesn’t mean terminal.

Through living years with terminal breast cancer is not that unusual. Same with Prostate cancer.

Ceramist Iskandar Jalil had stage IV prostate cancer in 2014. Still alive and I think he said somewhere that he survived it.

Was on channel four earlier. Looking rough but says he's beating cancer. Also that it was head and neck cancer, don't think that was confirmed before reading this thread.
