msc 18,476 Posted November 8, 2022 As long term TCD fans will know, we add lists to the masterlist as they come in, and then add in the sub points closer to Hogmanay. (And then Betty White went and died, but, it helps when events like that happen. Imagine me needing to sub 4000 points in 2 hours!) So, with an RIP to Leslie Philips, I can confirm that not only is he the first DNS name to fall from contention on the 2023 TCD, but, at time of posting, he was in first place on the list!
Charles De Gaulle 484 Posted November 8, 2022 FORUM GUIDE 5: Comedienne Ruth Buzzi turns 87 this year. Earlier this year she suffered a series of strokes with her husband eventually revealing that she has had alzheimers for the last 10 years, can't use her legs and isn't getting enough nourishment. A shoe in if she makes it to 2023.
msc 18,476 Posted November 8, 2022 Bill Treacher was below 200th place at time of death. RIP.
Gooseberry Crumble 5,346 Posted November 9, 2022 Still working on my list and thought I would take the opportunity to urge posters not to overlook 94 year old Ethel Kennedy when compiling your lists..

Well, I can confirm that you are not the only Vera Miles voter so far. You are though the first voter for a deadpool fave, but still plenty of time to go yet. Many of the regulars dont even think about their lists till Christmas!

Philip 121 Posted November 14, 2022 Thomas Noguchi "Coroner to the stars" who performed autopsies on Marilyn Monroe, Robert Kennedy, Sharon Tate, Janis Joplin, John Belushi, Gia Scala, William Holden, Inger Stevens, David Jannsen and Natalie Woods will turn 97 in January. Werner Spitz the Forensic Pathologist who worked on the Jfk and Mlk cases and was an investigator during Chappaquiddick and conducted the autopsy of Florence Ballard will turn 97 next year also. In recent years he testified during the Trials of Oj Simpson, Phil Spector and Jodi Arias and was involved in the Jodi Arias Investigation. Still Working and giving interviews he is Mentally Sharp but insanely frail.

Noguchi was born in January 1927. I do think he is a good bet, he's been on my radar for a while now, and I have him on a draft for a potential DDP entry for 2023, although I am still unsure whether I will enter.

msc 18,476 Posted November 15, 2022 20 lists in already. Early voting or a record breaking year, time will tell.
msc 18,476 Posted November 20, 2022 May be a delay of a week or two in adding new lists to the overall masterlist, due to suffering a close family bereavement. Everything's kept and we'll be up to date soon, along with all the Leslie P subs. Just in case people think "Why hasn't he seen my PM yet?"

msc 18,476 Posted December 1, 2022 Right, thanks for the kind words. Back to adding lists to the masterlist again. And we have Zemin and others to remove. Thirty days left. I'm sure it was January 1st 2016 just the other day... Yes, the usual invites/etc will go out but probably after the 9th. No rush after all.
msc 18,476 Posted December 5, 2022 Jiang Zemin was in 30th place when he died. Doddie Weir was in 39th place. Ned Rorem was below 200th place. Robert Clary was picked by one person. Six names subbed to date. As nearly half of your top thirty are currently "could go anyday now" picks, this wont be the last substitution update!
Gooseberry Crumble 5,346 Posted December 8, 2022 Gosh two of my picks, Doddie Weir and Johnny Johnson have now died. I will need to think up 3 more subs @msc if a third dies?
msc 18,476 Posted December 25, 2022 The record for most lists sent for a Crowdsourced Deathlist is 38. We currently stand at 33, with 6 days left. Also, beginning to wish the Unabomber was called Ted Jones instead tbh...
Gooseberry Crumble 5,346 Posted December 26, 2022 I urge posters to put Vera Miles on your list and help her make the shadowlist for 2023. You won't regret it just as when I advocated including Rhonda Fleming on the list in 2020 and she proved to be a hit for the shadowlist that year.
msc 18,476 Posted December 30, 2022 The record is broken, not sure by how many - got about a dozen PMs to go through. Plus 900 points to sub for Pele who was runaway leader, ahead of another guy on his deathbed. Of course. I've been ghastly ill all week (still am) and am slowly putting my own teams together. Every list up to 9pm UK time tomorrow will be counted, but apologies in advance if the grand reveal is slightly delayed. 3
