Had him last year too. Guy's pretty much my Frank Ifield equivalent at this point.

I think Chris Stone and Denny Crum are the only two picks not previously discussed on the forum, Stone probably my only shot at a unique and even then I'd be surprised.

You won't be surprised Spade. I had Stone as well.

Stone was covered on the forum (by me?). - Edit: Ok, not really covered, but he was there.

I wonder how the Mark Stokes situation will be resolved though.

Adrian Sutton might also be unique. He's a bit obscure even though he was mentioned on the forum.

I expect my risky picks of Phyllis Kinney and Cledwyn Jones will be unique (both performers well-known in Wales in the 1940s and 50s) but probably nothing else.

I assumed there'd be some mumblings out there about Stokes passing if he had gone, even without an official announcement. If he has gone over the festive period, he gets replaced by Nelson Mandela's granddaughter for me.

Here are the YoungWillz teams for 2023. Having granted the members of those teams life for another year, I fully expect them to leave me something in their Wills in 2025.

12 Lords A-leaving, 8 Ladies Dying
1. Jonnie Irwin (JOKER)
2. Laurence Broderick (Sculptor)
3. Rob Burrow
4. Shannen Doherty
5. Marianne Faithfull
6. Frank Field (Politician)
7. Roberta Flack
8. Rolf Harris
9. Randy Jackson (American Idol)
10. Kate Keltie
11. Gordon McQueen
12. Liza Minnelli
13. Nana Mouskouri
14. Linda Nolan
15. Yoko Ono
16. Ryuichi Sakamoto
17. Adrian Sutton (Composer)
18. Andy Taylor (Duran Duran)
19. Norman Tebbit
20. James Whale

A toss of the coin whether to pick McQueen or McGarvey. Given McGarvey might have died 2022 (and turned out to be razor close), I went for Gordon.

Comedy Cremations
1. Barry Humphries (JOKER)
2. John Alderton
3. Thelma Barlow
4. Stanley Baxter
5. James Bolam
 6. Mel Brooks
7. Ruth Buzzi
8. Billy Connolly
9. Kenneth Cope
10. Bill Cosby
11. Graeme Garden
12. Rhod Gilbert
13. Janey Godley
14. Melvyn Hayes
15. Brian Murphy
16. Bob Newhart
17. Prunella Scales
18. Dick Van Dyke
19. Richard Wilson
20. Mike Yarwood

Team picked itself, essentially most survivors from my star team of 2022 plus some additional punts.

Hits of 36 Years Ago.... 1987
1. John Farnham (JOKER)
2. Herb Alpert
3. Lyndsey Buckingham
4. Eric Clapton
5. Phil Collins
 6. Chris Difford
7. Barry Gibb
8. Tom Jones
9. Shane MacGowan
10. Freddie McGregor
11. Sam Moore
12. Vince Neil
13. Mike Peters
14. Chris Rea
15. Linda Ronstadt
16. Grace Slick
17. Tina Turner
18. Bruce Willis
19. Brian Wilson
20. Charlie Wilson

Anybody really surprised? 2023 to be 2016 all over again!!!

Tongo

Only one team this year

You know, when I was a newbie to the DDP, I used to count how many similar names I had to you and DDT! 13 (!) in 2022 probably tells us how big the "canon of good picks" is this year!

Also to note, I did try Fornasier, only to be told she was rejected due to the FFBI rules I actually wrote! My humblest apologies!

This clip from the ESPN documentary on Jeanette Lee broadcast in December was what made me think she was a must-pick for 2023. Pretty hard watching tbh:

Looking at some of the DDP heavyweights picks, I don't think I've missed any massive open goals this year.

One outside chance of a unique in Ken McGinley.

Johnnie Irwin    JOKER
Simon Cowell    (NOT the probably immortal square headed individual partly responsible for the death of music)
Juan Carlos Unzue
Steve McMichael
Christina Strutt
Ryuichi Sakamoto
George Alagia
Kate Keltie
Ted Kaczynski
Marlyne Barrett
Faye Fantarrow
Janey Godley
Gianluca Vialli
Johnny Ruffo
Ken McGinley (Nuclear test veteran)
Rob Burrow
Michael Tilson Thomas
James Whale
Charlie Bird
Andy Taylor

Well, now I measure myself Vs Spade and we have nine shared picks and the same joker

Fornasier, in my view was less FFBI than Vicky Phelan but it's no biggie.

Now I know you can enter three regular teams, it only reinforces my belief about more points for unique picks, but I've said enough.

As I know @Gooseberry Crumble (where's those Crumbles?) likes the reveal of my Notable Oldies team, here it is:

Here's Who You Could Have Won

Lawrence Gordon Clark (JOKER) - director of the 70s Ghost Story for Christmas strand

Brian Glanville - one of the greatest living sportswriters, retired recently

PJ Hammond - creator of Sapphire and Steel

Jerry Hardin - Popular 80s/90s actor (Big Trouble in Little China), forever recognisable to a generation as Deep Throat in The X-Files

Candace Hilligoss - Star of Carnival of Souls, one of the great underrated 60s horror films

Diane Hoh - YA horror writer, Point Horror et all.

Dick Taverne - Labour MP who jumped ship and won as an independent at an election.

David Irving - Nazi sympathising historian, need at least one "good riddance" type pick

Kenneth O Morgan - House of Lords member, Michael Foot's biographer, looked hellish when last seen.

David Berglas - The don of UK TV magic

Pat Arrowsmith - CND co-founder

Derek Malcolm - Frail old movie critic

Jim Sillars - Contrarian shit stirrer (his own words!) former MP

Luciano Moggi - Chap at the centre of Calciopoli, thought he was long dead actually.

Anne Perry - Murderer turned crime novelist

Giles Havergal - Highly respected Citizen's Theatre director I was surprised to find out was still alive

Charles Cyphers - John Carpenter regular. The sheriff in Hallowe'en, the doomed weather guy in The Fog, etc.

Christopher Timothy - James Herriot!

Derry Irvine - Tony Blair's oft controversial mentor, quieter than he used to be

Mary Danby - Editor/collector of the Fontana and Armada Ghost Book series many, including me, loved as kids.
