You’re right, but boy does it take Time, I thought he would died in the night When I red the news two days ago

There's been some right royal sagas on DL over the years. "Very ill" "Better" "Gravely ill" "Doing better" "Heart attack and brain explosion" "Only minor brain explosion, on mend" etc etc.

See King Bhumibol, the aforementioned Prince Rainier, Suharto, etc etc etc.

Condition still serious, but moved out of intensive care according to this.

The last king of Greece, Constantine II, remains in a serious condition in hospital but he has now been moved from intensive care.

The former monarch is in a ‘serious but stable’ condition and his family remain at his bedside, according to latest reports on CNN.

Constantine, who is 82, has been in hospital for five days. It’s understood he has suffered a stroke.

Given the circumstances, I think they might be moving Constantine into hospice care or something like that. I think they are taking him out of the ICU so he can spend his final hours at home.

I imagine it is hospice being provided at the hospital.I doubt he is safe enough to be moved without the severe risk of dying in transit. He is likely being put in a side room on a regular ward  for privacy.

I agree that I don`t think the fact he is being moved out of ICU is a good sign in this case.

I can’t remember where I read it but a source said the stroke occurred on Wednesday. If it wasn’t Wednesday it was certainly prior to the news breaking on the Friday. The news broke on the Friday when members of other Royal Households were flying to be bedside. So I think even if he has been moved out of the ICU it was still serious enough to warrant the family gathering.

In April 2022 they sold their villa in Porto Cheli and relocated to Athens and my presumption is that it was to be nearer to any required specialist medical facilities.

+ The Saudi kings.

Not monarchs, but recent examples would maybe be Prince Phil and that Yuriko, Princess Mikasa? Yuriko was supposed to be pretty much in hospice over two years ago, then later hospitalised again but somehow "fine and exercising frequently" etc etc in 2022.

Also - not so much for health issues but the first few pages of this thread are very...entertaining, if that's the right word

The article I linked above says he'd been in hospital for five days, so that fits.

Wouldn’t surprise me if that is also because i suspect after his death Anne - Marie might leave Greece and go and live in Denmark or with one of her kids scattered around the world.

83 would be pretty young for a European Royal, wouldn't it? They all now seem to reach ages of 85 and older.

Dead aged 82. So much for that rapid recovery.

Yeah. That talk of him improving struck me as very odd given the previous reporting and his other health issues

It was a shock to see that when a hour before he was said to be improving.

Well sometimes people perk up just before the end.

I was not overly convinced by the earlier report.

The tweet above means nothing imo. It's just some Canadian guy who appears to be a fan of royals. He probably made an inference based on the reports of him being moved out. (Not to mention the tweet had been up for almost a day before it was posted here, so don't take it as a "recent" development or anything.)
