Thoughts on 2023 Deathlist

With Ryuchi Sakamoto and Sonny Rollins already having threads, first impressions of the list seem positive although we don’t know 44 of the other names yet

As long as they don't pick Mohamed Al-Fayed, I'm fine with it.

Andy Taylor, Robert Duval Mohammed Al Fayed, Hal Linden  also have threads.  Sakamoto and Al Fayed could be a good choice not sure about the rest.

Interesting to see Duvall and Linden seemingly made it. I debated them given their ages but they seem quite healthy to me (Linden can still walk sans assistance, Duvall was in two films this year).

Given that I dropped them from my shadowlist they'll probably die. But they're also on the deathlist so they'll probably live. Mexican standoff?

I can see Andy Taylor going on a while longer yet.

Seems like it’s just those six being thread-less till now debuts.

Can’t believe that Steve McMichael and Michael Tilson Thomas didn’t make the list, the committee really has no class

I wonder if Taylor had hidden his diagnosis for a few years?

Rollins is simply a old age pick which is fair

Dont know Hal Linden but looks to be a old age pick a previous post did say he had to be assisted walking around

If those 6 are the only ones than biggest question is why didn't the committee go for Alagiah?

Taylor was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer 4 years ago.

Rollins has had pulmonary fibrosis for years so not just an old age pick.

Georgie's got his own thread, Sean, so doesn't need a new one!

6 new threads suggests at least 9 "newcomers" who already have forum threads.

As I've mentioned a thousand times Sonny Rollins completely retired due to pulmonary fibrosis & complications in 2014. It was diagnosed around 2012 or 2013. The average life expectancy of patients with pulmonary fibrosis is three to five years after diagnosis. He's also 92, very impressive that he's alive.

Why does it suggest 9 newcomers with threads? Could be lots of people brought back after absences.

so if I’m not mistaken the 2023 death list should drop at 12 AM GMT?

The one that upsets me is Andy Taylor but can see why added, isn't it 4 years and survival rate for 5 years is 29% so understand why on list but low on list as well.

Maths. There's 25 names not on last years list at least (maybe 26 given Pele situation is similar to Betty White). Most returnees they've had in the last decade is 13 in 2015. Which even if that went that high (and I struggle to name 13 credible returnees) you still need at least 6 newcomers with threads.
