Deathlist Cup 2023

Recommended Posts

My pick Sarath Babu (not Sarath Badu, sorry for the typo) is not dead. After he was in intensive care late last month, he recovered and was moved to the general ward. But now he's back in intensive care with multiple organ failure and sepsis:

Edit: I see, drol has posted the news. Well, let's see what happens.

This has been the easiest pool to run in the history of this site, I think. Last year it felt like I was typing obits into the thread every six hours.

Strange how the hits have dried up after just a few days.

I've been expecting news on Casey "Mighty Casey" Quinlan from April 1st on, but she just keeps on hanging on.

https://www.caringbridge.org/public/caseyquinlan

Casey Quinlan is dead, now we need an obit.

Yep, it's an independent media source, it counts. Casey Quinlan (not to be confused Casey Quinlan the journalist and one-time Atlantic writer) spent most of the 1980s behind-the-scenes at news shows like Dateline and Today before turning those experiences into a stand-up comedy career in the 1990s. I'd tell you more about her history but her official website has gone down-presumably because she spent the last two months in hospice and had other things on her mind rather than renewing hosting. Her passing finally breaks up an 18-day cold spell for the DL Cup, and makes absolutely zero fucking difference to the scores as the only two who had her are in the same match

gcreptile 20 vs SpadeCooley 12
deadsox 3 vs MariNisia 0
Hell 9 vs alt obits guy 9
Grim Up North 9 vs CaptainChorizo 0
Banana 9 vs Sir Ristretto 0
msc 3 vs wannamaker 9
Annami 0 vs DevonDeathTrip 6
An Fear Baeg 3 vs Captain Hemlock 0

Every cup game is a bit like a football match. Mine is England Iceland, fall behind very early on then nothing of note happens.

Giving the host the special honour that only the Cup provides of being runner up in both the round and their tie.

All of my matches have been this way, 1 or 2 early hits and then a long waiting period for the next round.

Quietest April in Cup history.

Things to do today:

1. Install a new kitchen faucet

2. Get ready for New Hampshire's turkey hunting opening day

3. Put together a cup team capable of beating the Reptile

Disappointed with my team but it's on the pitch so has a chance.

Good luck AOB.

Thank you Spade for the round.

Only five hits in April, must be a negative record with so many players. But hey, I got them all!

Thank you, although I don't fancy my chances of getting through next round considering who my oponent is.

Congratulations on your victory, @deadsox.

On another occasion, I would like to play with you again... you seem like a really great person.

It was my pleasure to play with you.

So long, friend.

Thanks Spade!
