I only ask as, though it’s a pretty clear gear change from the stuff from at least the first half of the 80s, there’s still quite a mix of genres - club, hip hop, reggae, britpop, ballads, pop, utter shite (yes I’m still talking about Doop, thank christ that was fired into the sun early doors). Perhaps I should say I was aware of them! There are a few decent songs but not well executed, or just not to my taste. I don't like hip hop and most rap. Didn't like Oasis, derivative songs and whiny vocals. Not keen on Blur either. I do like reggae but the Pato Banton song is pedestrian. If you were to force me to pick one it would be Saturday Night, which is a perfect piece of catchy bubblegum pop which I don't dislike at all. A shame they substituted a lip syncher, who presumably fitted the image better, for the real singer.
