I couldn’t disagree more.  Although it’s difficult to discuss the Beatles one to one (due to all the albums being screwed up release dates and song lists U.K. vs USA until around the Help! soundtrack), I CAN say that I love the early jangly songs the Beatles did on their first 3-4 albums.  My favourite is The Beatle’s Second Album; everything after Help! (1965-70) is psychedelic shite. Stuff Sgt Peppers/The Beatles (White album)/Let it Be up your arse.  I adore the 2:45 length blasts of genius from them, and I am unanimous in that.
Thus, The Beatles were NEVER BETTER than (songs like) IWTHYH.  
I didn’t intend on voting for them much, as I assumed people weren’t here to rewrite history.  I gave those people way too much credit.

I'm odd and actually rather like the late 50s-early 60s, helps that a lot of genres I love prospered during that period - doo wop, girl groups, early rock n roll.

 

But early-mid 50s crooner battles would be a bridge too far for even my palate
