Yeah, cause we're all on that one - the terrible committee cockup when someone dies that they didn't name.

FS Sir Cunto, You're smarter than this - show it for once.

Not on the Crowdsourced List

Not a major pick in the DDP

Not a household name on this side of the Atlantic

Not a big miss

Have you any peer-reviewed evidence for this?

The Joe Meek Society reporting on Facebook that arranger Charles Blackwell (wiki) has died aged 84.

Started working for Meek at 18, then went on to work on some of the biggest hits of the 1960s and 70s.

Joe Meek to Engelbert Humperdinck, what a downgrade.

From his Wikipedia page:

Quote

The million selling "Tchin Tchin" by Richard Anthony was also composed by him.[17] Also in 1962 he was musical director for a Jimmy Savile song "Ahab the Arab" which, today (2022), would be regarded as too offensive to broadcast.

Yeah, the lyrics would be the only reason it's not on constant radio rotation today.

Today we mourn a man whose beauty was perfect, almost annoying. This was a curse for him, as he seemed destined to remain a handsome vegetable, without the possibility of having a career or develope a personality on his own. Only thanks to his outstanding abilities, he managed to become a global icon and a beloved face everywhere in the world.

From humble starts, he rose to the presidency of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1987, and was one of the leading physicists of his generation. We'll miss you, Zhou Guangzhao.

It feels poetic I get to send off both Superstar Billy AND Thorson. The two dud picks who fooled me my first DDP year.

I was actually seriously going to pick him again starting next year, just as a throwaway pick in the really large pools, but still.
