Why?

A hunch. Which given the 2024 list was based on seems fine to me. And the fact that he has done a disappearing act for a few years. Given his love of media and limelight, why so?

Here's him definitely not running for Chancellorship of Oxford University earlier this month. He ultimately lost to William Hague a couple of days ago.

He was also part of the BBC General Election coverage in July for several hours into the night, if I recall correctly. If he's well enough to do both of these things, he's probably not going to die any time soon. Of course, he could randomly keel over at any time, but that is much more unlikely.

As I say. A hunch.

Mamie Van Doren turns 94 next year.

She's had numerous health issues over the years. Used to hang around with Jayne Mansfield and Marilyn Monroe back in the day

Shirley MacLaine  Lynn Hamilton and Mary Costa could be looked at if not this year then perhaps next year.  All of them in their 90s

Mandelson was on the weekly Times Radio podcast "How to win an election" for most of the past year. His voice is a bit croaky sometimes but he's not obviously seriously unwell.

Biddy Baxter (b 1933)  should be seriously considered - never a presenter on Blue Peter but worked on the programme.

Known to have been behind Michael Sünden and Janet Ellis exiting the 'Peter pdq.
