The Deathlist Poker Tournament 2024

Recommended Posts

June Spencer of Ye Olde BBC radio drama The Archers has been summoned out of life.

The Road To Ambridge was littered with hits hither and thither. Dum te dum to dum te dum, as you will hum before retiring to bed.

Those benefiting were Bibliogryphon, ladyfiona, TQR and Buffalo Phil. A bonus for hitting a pair of sixes (cricket being a favourite pasttime on the radio show) to Buffalo Phil for 10 additional points.

Those leaving June languishing on the subs bench were Perhaps (drawing 10 Diamonds for 10 added points) and wannamaker (drawing Q Spades for 12 added points).

Leaderboard updated and will be brought forward on the next hit.

Tokyo Rose deflowered!

Well, I can't work it all out. All these clans and marriages, they baffle me! All I know is Yuriko, Princess Mikasa of Japan has died aged 101, picking up a Mail obit. Marrying one's second cousin might be a grand idea, but it's not for me, personally.

Joe Moneypenny was the only player to pick the Big In Japan dame, and scores with a hit and also picks up a Black Joker bonus (more on that soon) and soars up the table, making many other players appear like serfs.

All right, we have made it to the middle of the penultimate month of the game.

It behoves me as your manager to point out that those who have played a Joker (and those who will play a Joker in the remaining days of November) must convert their Joker by 30 November. Ensure you do this or I will be sorry, St Andrew will be sorry, and you will be sorry as potential bonuses may be lost.

As I see it, those who have a Joker played so far are @MariNisia; @Perhaps and @JoeMoneypenny.

Help will always be given at the Casino, so if you need any help in Joker conversion, I am here to assist.

PM me with your queries and/or your decided card, or lose your conversion rights forever! You can hang on until the end of the month to see if any more picks drop, but leave it too late and the advantage may be lost.

Nope.

You need 5 cards - this is poker, not brag. You are on your way though, full of promise, but the time is ticking down. ;)

See this is what I get for searching for Yuriko only! What a Mikasa to make!

So, yes the old Japanese lady was also a hit for Captain Chorizo and Perhaps. Captain Chorizo gets a bonus of 10 additional points for a pair of Kings.

Labour of love!

John Prescott has punched out. Deputy PM for a decade, though it seemed longer. His policy of reducing car usage was undermined by himself by his use of 2 Jaguar cars. Eggs were thrown at him and water poured over him, which made him all the more attractive to his secretary with whom he had a two year affair.

He was also attractive to TQR, who picked him as a sub. They draw Q Diamonds for 12 added points.

Barbara's Unexpected Blessings!

Yes, novelist Barbara Taylor Bradford has had A Sudden Change Of Heart - for the worse. Rather less known for her kiddies' Christian books or her interior design tomes, she hit it big with her writings about women made good.

The Killing Time was the only player to Hold The Dream as Bradford becomes a Woman Of Substance to gain them points. A late race to the top? We shall see. No Bonuses.

I see gcreptile awaits a QO for Bruce Thompson. Keep those eyes peeled for an unlikely obit.

Where Is Everybody?!

Earl Holliman departs for the Forbidden Planet, leaving nothing but the scent of Gunsmoke. A Giant of the cinema, small screen and the pop world, The Biscuit Eater and the Rainmaker is no more.

He wasn't able to Dodge being picked by Torva Messor, but only as a sub. They draw 7 Diamonds for 7 added points.

Swirling kilts and whirling bagpipes, it's St Andrews Day! Before our players settle down to enjoy haggis, neeps and tatties, I suppose it's time to spin the Roulette wheel and see where the cards fall! Updated leaderboard will follow shortly.

Well, it's a bit annoying really.

You have a Black Joker played so it must be a black card. You are a couple of cards away from gaining a straight. But you have all the black 8s in your team, so a black 9 would place you one card away. Depends how you feel about taking a chance that one of your 8s might die.

Alternatively, a 10 Clubs, 6 Clubs or 7 Spades would all give you a pair for 10 points. You have more chance with the 6 of making four of a kind if December is lucky for you, less so with a 7 or a 10.

It all depends on further hits I am afraid. Any way you roll, you are needing further cards.

So, take the 10 points now, or take a chance? Your call. Let me know.

Hoops-A-Daisy!

Basketball college coach and Hall of Famer Lou Carnesecca is a slam dunk for LadyFiona. I think that's all can be said about this pick.

However, it's looking increasingly unlikely they can be caught. This hit means they are about 4 hits ahead of their nearest rival. However, we have seen Decembers of Death in the past, so no giving up hope in this last stretch.

No bonuses, leaderboard updated.
