Político y ex-presidente argentino

Translation

Politician and former Argentine president

Although Carlos Menem is 74, I have not seen any indication that this Argentine ex-president (1989-1999) is in ill health. He is in fact running as a senate candidate for La Rioja province in the October, 2005 elections.

Therefore we are unfortunately going to see a lot of him.

He is as good as condemned and I hope that his wife (Cecilia Boloco Menem) becomes a widow.

Crook Argentine president Carlos Menem, an older version of Berlusconi, on life support with pneumonia (not COVID), but "fine and in good spirit". I'd like to know how a 90 year old could be admitted to ICU and put on ventilator "just for precautionary measure".

Carlos Menem was discharged, but now back in ICU, though they insist it is a check-up

Carlos Menem discharged. Ah, that Balbir Singh shaped hole in our hearts definitely needed to be filled...

You know what, I'm crossing these posts regarding Carlos Menem to his dedicated thread.

He recently achieved one of the great achievements in life - being added to the Genarians website!

I did not know this site existed! :o

Blimey, it's been around for 15-20 years now and was my "they're still alive?" site before I'd even heard of the Deathlist.

Get this dude confused with Cesar Menotti. Repeat to self: sports and politics should not mix. Though they have both rocked the 'badger sideburns' look at one time.

Same here. I thought it was the Argentine manager who - I think it was Barry Davies - said of him 'He always looks so sad'

Article also mentions he's been hospitalised 4 times this year

Could be a goner before the year is out

It would be nice and curious if Carlos Menem and Diego Maradona make it both to be on the next year Deathlist (2 Argentinians... 3 if Pope Francis makes it too!)

Cesar Menotti himself is not a well man. Make him the 4th as Argentine DL alumni is always a good thing.

Indeed, when Carlos Bilardo was in hospital earlier this year I thought it was Menotti at first reading because he's been unwell.

Of course, Bilardo himself has been in poor health of late - had 2 brain surgeries last year to deal with side effects of his Hakim-Adams Syndrome...

Hospitalised for urinary trait infection and heart failure. Nothing serious according to his family.
