Guest David Posted June 25, 2008 Harry Patch becomes a supercentenarian. Unlike Henry, he eschews the 'live fast, die old' method of wine, women and song, but each to their own. Happy Birthday, Harry. Yes, well done, Harry. Hang on a few more years and you'll probably break the record. Love and respect, David, Glasgow.
Guest David Posted June 25, 2008 Continuing today's trend of me posting unverifiable news (unless you can read this link), the last central powers WWI veteran, Franz Künstler is in hospital with a broken hip and an intestinal obstruction, neither of which is conducive to long life in a 107-year-old. Given how wide the international coverage was for Erich Kästner, I suspect that his status as the last Central Powers veteran will produce a (delayed) reaction good enough for most DPs, including Handy's upcoming one. Well, Kastner should've been proud. He broke the all - time marriage record. 75 years.
Canadian Paul 97 Posted June 25, 2008 France has found another veteran, Fernad Goux, who is apparently not good enough to be counted officially by their government because he served less than 90 days.
Canadian Paul 97 Posted June 30, 2008 Francesco Domenico Chiarello, the second-to-last Italian veteran, has died. That leaves Delfino Borroni as the last surviving WWI veteran from that country.

Canadian Paul 97 Posted July 13, 2008 Well, they might have found another Tommy...........http://www.blackburncitizen.co.uk/news/233...hday/?act=login From what I understand, his status is plausible, but not yet confirmed. There's a brief discussion about it here. I should point out that Britain is (with six!) the only remaining nation to have more than one verified surviving veteran. This has been a DeathList public service announcement.
