I think we could do with having a number of ageing goddesses/flamboyant Screen Queens types . Their very welcome and Gina Lollobrigida would have been an excellent addition to the list.

Gina lolbridge isn't really a big miss i mean her only health problem is the fact that she is old. Nothing else this isn't a Colin Meads or a Mario Soares here.

And the pneumonia, which can be fatal especially to old people.

But I'll let you off, because you probably can't spell it.

But in recent months there's been press reports of legal wrangling over her will and guardianship hence a strong sign that all is not well and making her a strong contender for list consideration.

Was looking at the surviving Hitchcock leading ladies. We have:

Doris Day (The Man Who Knew Too Much) - born 1922

Eva Marie Saint (North by North-West) - born 1924

Vera Miles (The Wrong Man) - born 1929

Tippi Hedren (The Birds) - born 1930

Kim Novak (Vertigo) - born 1933

Shirley Maclaine (Trouble with Harry) - born 1934

Julie Andrews (Torn Curtain) - born 1935

EDIT: Fixed Vera's DOB.

Mannix star Mike Connors dead at 91. Mail obit here for the two DDP teams who had him.

I honestly don't remember him at all.

Meantime, the deaths just keep stacking up...

I'm aware my cinematic tastes are generally odd, but Reuben, Reuben is a personal fave. Sorry to hear this news.

Character actor Frank Pellegrino, dead at 72. Best known as the FBI chief on The Sopranos and, of course, steak-broiling con Johnny Dio in Goodfellas.

Not sure what your problem with "dead at" is Casey. It's a normal and acceptable phrase for obits. Even humble folks get a "dead at" whatever age they are in their obituaries. I still chuckle when someone is "dead at 69" because I think "well at least he died happy". But that's just me.

I'm an old-fashioned obituary kinda guy. I like it to be Joe Bloggs, guy who did x, y and z, dead at 95.

It's all part of the txtspk era. Everything is shortened to inelegance.

Once it would have been "Joe Bloggs, guy who did x, y and z, has died at the age of 95"

It's similar with birthdays. Everyone "turns" now.

Used to be "My brother will be 21 next week" or "Joe Bloggs will celebrate his 95th birthday on Sunday".

Now we hear "My brother turns 21 next week" or "Joe Bloggs will turn 95 on Sunday".

I miss the old ways. :old:

Alan Thicke dead.

Died like a good Canadian. Heart attack while playing ice hockey with his son.

Edited to say according to TMZ he was playing tennis. Although I've seen reports that he was playing ice hockey.
