Lee Grant from In the Heath of the Night is cranky old now. Wouldn't surprise me as a "sudden" death.

Ah yes, I love in the heath of the night too!

Norman Jewison, who is 96 in July, gives interview about Poitier to The Hollywood Reporter.

I would say there's a fair chance of him being around for a few years yet.

Most recent missing one is 1997 James Horner for Titanic.

The award is given to the writers not the performers.

Oscar, Emmy and Grammy winning lyricist Marilyn Bergman (wikidead from respiratory failure at 93.

Her older husband and songwriting partner, Alan (96), survives her ofc.

Some of their most notable songs include The Windmills of Your Mind, The Way We Were and You Don't Bring Me Flowers.

EDIT: Another weird Poitier-related death. They wrote the music for In the Heat of the Night!

Peter Bogdanovitch would have been big news if he'd died around 1974, when he was riding on a string of hit movies. But his success was mixed up with a very specific moment, when old-fashioned movies could appeal to a vogue for nostalgia for twenties and Depression-era America, what might be called Great Gatsby chic. Inevitably things moved on, and he made two or three films which failed badly, and was never as big again.

He was never the same after he left Polly Platt, much like Brian Clough without Peter Taylor.

One of my favourite musical films incidentally. Thoroughly recommend to anyone who hasn't seen it.

Updated cast list for Fiddler on the Roof following the death of George Little. He was the oldest surviving cast member.

By top 4 do you mean the winners from longest ago? Just Dreyfuss is the second youngest on that list, not known to have any serious health conditions that I'm aware of (believe he had a drink problem in the past but think he has been clean for decades now)

Mad to think there are 7 Best Actress winners from pre-1971 still alive, when all the men are dead. And every 70s Best Actress winner is still going, compared to just half the men.

Average of the ages of main actors and main actresses were also different, as an example Jack Nicholson started to have leading roles in his 30s, Sophia Loren in her 20s

Rumors on Twitter that Adam Sandler, American Actor (Wiki), dead from suicide.

Seems to be a hoax so far.

EDIT: Pretty much confirmed hoax, only article on it lists him as 49, when he is 55.

Article making claim

EDIT #2: Seems the hoax started on the social media app TikTok.

If it were true, TMZ would have been all over it by now.

I think as with Bowie it's shock  working in tandem with other emotions as you try to absorb the news.  I think it's just as much about them being a big or iconic name as it is shock.  To some extent it's about  absorbing or digesting  news that was unexpected and in another sense its about absorbing  news you don't want to be true.

And we have a good example today.  Ronnie Spector.

Just noticed that. Please ignore. Not sure why it would be reposted. Must be a slow news day.

That's sad. I love The Time Machine. A really decent stand alone sci-fi back in the pre-Star Wars era when the average sci-fi flick sucked. The last surviving main cast member too.

An exceptionally private individual. Her year of birth was disputed online for years as a result, and I'm not sure if the precise place of her birth is even known (somewhere within LA County).

Sad news.

I will never forget her performance in The Time Machine with Boris Johnson.
