Movie director George Hickenlooper, who brought us the awesome "Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse" and the slightly less-awesome "Factory Girl", dies in his sleep aged 47.

With her dead and the recent dead of Leslie Neilsen how many actors of Forbidden Planet are still alive?

According to my sources, i.e imdb and wikipedia, of the credited actors,

Warren Stevens (b 1919)

Richard Anderson (b1926)

Earl Holliman (b1928)

Robert Dix (b1935)

James Drury (b1934)

Richard Grant (b1919)

are the only ones left.

Anderson, Holliman and Drury would be the most likely to get UK obits because of their familiarity to UK audiences via their TV work (Six-Million Dollar Man, Police Woman and The Virginian respectively).

Who could forget that dramatic Cliff Richard double decker bus chase around the streets of Frisco.

Me, obviously. You're suggesting 'drama' in a Cliff movie!

Bit surprised no one appears to have mentioned Clifton James (b. 1921), best known for playing redneck sheriff J.W. Pepper in the 2 James Bond films Live & Let Die and The Man With The Golden Gun, also appeared in films like Cool Hand Luke, Superman 2 and Silver Streak, as well as episodes of The A-Team and the Dukes Of Hazzard, playing pretty much the same character, more or less made a career out of playing redneck Southeners, even though he is actually from New York.

Had serious roles too in the likes of The Untouchables, Eight Men Out and Lone Star, was a WW2 veteran too, quite likely to get a few press obits

79 year old Margaret Tyzack has joined Eastenders' cast. Old enough to have appeared in a leading role in the original Forsythe Saga on BBC 1, and well-enough stacked with theatrical plaudits to be obit-worthy.

Obviously, she's healthy enough to be insurable...for now.

Walter Seltzer, brother of Alka and producer of Godot's favourite film Soylent Green, has died in the US's equivalent of Brinsworth House at the ripe old age of 96.

Gary Winick, director of Bride Wars and that live-action Charlotte's Web film or something, has died aged 49. Seems he also helped out a lot of independent film makers.
