2019

Which means Cook and Saint were both 95. Didn’t look bad for that age. Carol Cook looked better though but somehow she is the first to go

BAFTA winning director Piers Haggard (Blood on Satan's Claw, Quatermass, Pennies from Heaven) has died aged 83. Citizens Theatre to Hammer Horror to acclaimed drama.

Never picked in the DDP or mentioned here before, probably because he looked bloody good for his age whenever he showed up in stuff!

Bloody love Blood on Satan's Claw. Probably helped by first seeing it at the age of 19 and that scene with Linda Hayden. But there's other fun gruesomeness as well.

British actor Julian Sands has gone missing while hiking in mountains in California.

Urgent search underway.

They've suspended the search due to adverse weather conditions.

He's a goner.

Great performances in A Room With a View and Agatha Christie's Marple: Towards Zero. A first class actor.

Simone Bär, a German casting director who fulfilled the role for that country's 2022 epic "All Quiet on the Western Front", a film nominated for 9 Oscars, has died. She was 57. Bär was prolific as a casting director for both English and German productions for more than 30 years. Although she wasn't among the Oscar nominees, she did get an Emmy nomination in 2022 for her work on "Inventing Anna".

You know why he rescued his kids? Cause he's a real life superhero. Now go watch the latest Marvel movie folks.

Still working on her method acting…

Melanie Griffith's new facial scar has sparked fears the former Body Double beauty's skin cancer has returned.

The Golden Globe winner, 65, was recently caught on camera in West Hollywood with a long, jagged mark on her left cheek. Though Melanie hasn't addressed the speculation, an insider spilled, "She's had some issues with skin cancer in the not-too-distant past, and people around her worry she had a recurrence that required more surgery.

More recently she was the narrator for the BBC's excellent Talking Pictures programme.

I remember her from ITV comedy series My Good Woman (1972-74) opposite Leslie Crowther. Strangely, there's little info on the 'net about this, but it also starred other familiar faces, Glyn Houston, Richard Wilson et al.

Ice Cold in Alex is excellent too. The Queen, less so, but she's great as the Queen Mum in it. (Willz or Biblio should mention Ghost Light any moment now too.)

A fine actress indeed, this is sad news, even if 89 is a fine age.

Her standing down from that a couple of years ago to be replaced by Celia Imrie was what made me think her health was in serious decline

Not going to mention Ghost Light - fuck, I just did.

There are some amazing punctuations in Sylvia Syms career - Ice Cold In Alex, The Punch And Judy Man, Espresso Bongo. How she ever played Maggie Thatcher AND the Queen Mother, I'll never know.

Still a Peter Bowles associated death (the 2022 hangover continues), co-starring in Together from 2018.

LEGEND! RIP.
