Thats sad. He was one of few politicians who believed that Julian Assange should not be prosecuted for his involvement in Wikileaks.

It's a shame his long career came to an end in the circumstances it did , with the sexual assault allegations. Were any of them ever proven or just dropped?

Roger H. Zion, 98, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2019.  He served as a U.S. Congressman for 8 years, serving from January 3, 1967 to January 3, 1975. In 1967, Zion called anti-Vietnam War protesters "traitors" and suggested that "any of them involved in illegal acts be treated comparably with Frenchmen whose heads were shaved if they were caught collaborating with the Germans in World War II."
Roger became the President of Resources Development Inc, in Washington D.C. and was a Consultant for several companies in Washington.

He loved playing bridge. He once played in a Parliament vs. Congress bridge match, alongside his partner Warren Buffett, aboard a barge on the River Thames.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Marjorie. (SOMEONE CUE ALAN KING)

Seeing as Zion snuck under the radar, it would appear that Sir Creep has NO OBITUARY #5 in the ABC deadpool :(

Is this thread not redundant? Political Frailty would do just as well for everyone listed here.

It’s terribly redundant.
some dumbass created it though.  Oh and a former First Ladies thread despite them being political by trade.  Dumb.

To be fair, this thread was created a few months before "Political Frailty" was created.

Depends how you view it, really.

There are special threads which are offshoots of major threads.

Question is, bury your obit in a huge unwieldy thread which no-one will ever see it for the succeeding death and possibly confusing discussions on two or three deaths close together, or a specialist thread?

Tell you what, if all the music threads apart from Dead Pop Stars were swept away, I might agree with you. But I don't, because that will never happen. :P

This is kind of like trying to get a large, diverse group to agree on the best flavor of ice cream. Ain't gonna happen, so save your breath and just enjoy what you're given.

I can confirm that former National Security advisor Brent Scowcroft has indeed died aged 95.One of the legendary post war figures in American politics possibly second only to Henry Kissinger.as far as international expertise is concerned. https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/brent-scowcroft-prominent-elder-statesman-died/story?id=72234074

No reactions from secretaries of state James Baker, George Shultz or other surviving members of the Reagan & Bush Sr. administration yet.

But there's a video of George Shultz from yesterday:

Scowcraft was one of the very few western politicians who dared to say something positive about Gorbachev after the latter's downfall. (They all tried to ingratiate themselves with Yeltsin at the time).

Perhaps we will hear from Gorbachev too.

Edit: A message from Harry Reid:

That's two famous Mormons who have left us lately... Scowcroft and Wilford Brimley.

The only other one I know (minus big figures in the LDS Church or politicians like Mitt Romney) is Gladys Knight. Deaths happen in threes...
