Sat in the House of Lords. For 72 fucking years. Never uttered one word.

They didn't really need the cash, but fucking hell, that's brilliant.

Report of the death of Daily Express pop journo Judith Simons, aged 93.

There was some controversy when it was suspected she was the inspiration for Hey Jude. Also the subject of a film about her life, as effectively the first female pop journo in the UK. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4362924/

Kooster McAllister at 67.

Still not sure if he was working with Lennon on the day he died, but he ended up owning Record Plant Remote, which had loads of Beatle associations from Harrison, Lennon to being owned by Martin. And Record Plant seems cursed too.

Kooster also won a Grammy, so somecunt might have had him in some pool.

Kolya Vasin at 73, the vastly older and vastly  more hairy version of our own Mary.

I'm nowhere near his levels of fandom. Seriously, my book on the Fab Four is dedicated to a former work colleague who was way more of a fan than me. I just - like - know stuff and like them a lot. If push comes to shove I'd swap you Sgt Pepper for The Smiths' "Queen is Dead" album

Frank Serafine might have had a Hollywood career but as his death was untimely (mowed down by a car) and he produced the Ravi Shankar Tana Mana album with Harrison, its in this thread he goes.

He even won an Oscar for "Hunt for Red October":

And the link mentions Star Trek. And the original Grand Theft Auto video game. Quite a career actually.

Some of the deaths reported in here are somewhat obscure (nowt wrong with that, I hasten to add) but Emerick's a name even I know well. Quite a CV over last 50 years and generally considered a great. RIP.

One of the luckiest knob twiddlers in the business given that he sat in on the Beatles' start at EMI during his first week at work. Went on to win Grammy awards and help some of the best McCartney post-Beatles stuff including Band on the Run

An archaic term that was used by recording engineers to describe themselves back in the day. It fell out of fashion when faders became the norm, people started working on their own computers and a lot of the business became a cottage industry.

Rod Stewart and the Faces only official live album credits someone - can't recall who - who "pushes a smooth knob"

'Knob twiddlers' is how I have long referred to those DJ types who have hit singles, usually with some random female doing the singing.

Hmmm

So is there a suitable term for those rent-a-warble females who display their art over the backing tracks?

Report of the death of Joe Flannery, business associate of Brian Epstein and booking manager and promoter of The Beatles in their early days: https://www.beatlesstory.com/news/2019/03/28/joe-flannery-beatles-booking-manager-passes-away/

I think he was also the brother of Peter Flannery who was the Lee Curtis in Lee Curtis and The All Stars.

I mean, that's what the article says, but MPFC probably knows more details.
