Italian news sites are progressively sending the news to the back. A long wait is more and more likely.

I can confirm it. ANSA and Corriere della Sera are focusing on other news.

It’s not entirely clear what his Funeral will look like due to his status of ex-Pope.

I think he will have a funeral like a Pope one, and Pope Francis will hold the ceremony.

Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI is in serious but stable health conditions.

"His situation hasn't changed compared to yesterday", sources in contact with the former Mater Ecclesiae monastery tell ANSA.

The Pontiff emeritus spent the night continuously under the supervision of doctors and monitoring will continue in the next few hours.

Re that situation hasn't changed bit...

They're not considering Pele's death and the ex-Pope's increased value in time-based dead pools like HPDP or Deathrace are they?

I mean, I thought they were there to represent the whole of humanity.

(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 30 - Benedict XVI's condition remains stable and the ex pope is still attending Mass in the former monastery in the Vatican where the ailing 95-year-old German cleric lives, sources close to him said Friday.
Benedict XVI's health remains "stable", according to reports from sources in the Mater Ecclesiae Monastery in the wake of Pope Francis entreaties to pray for his predecessor's worsening condition.
At the moment no further details have been leaked other than that the Pope emeritus continued Friday morning, in his room and despite the difficulties of a still serious clinical picture, to attend Mass, concelebrating it with his long-time assistant Mgr Georg Gaenswein and simply wearing a light stole over his hospital gown.
The four memores domini Vatican officials and the nurse Brother Eligius continue to form around Ratzinger, who is being kept under constant medical supervision by his personal doctor, a cordon of continuous security and assistance, the sources said.

Maybe the committee didn’t choose him prior to these news though

They probably are changing it due to Pele’s death

I think his real significance probably lies in the work he did before being Pope when he advised on doctrine. He was very hard line on traditional Catholic bugbears like abortion and same sex relationships but he was soft on members of the clergy who committed abuse. I think the main reason he stepped down was that he recognised he was not the vehicle for change the Church needed and/or to avoid answering some awkward questions

Yes, very good answer

God doesn't approve of deadpooling, does he...

*gnashes teeth and studies '2023 potentials' list once again*

RIP Pope Benedict. My main memory of him is that when he spoke English he sounded like Von Smallhausen from Allo Allo.
