Oh dear :(

The DL 2022 has lost so many potential candidates (new or returnee) in the last few weeks - Anthony Sher, Ray Illingworth, James Brokenshire, Alan Igglesden, F.W. de Klerk and now Desmond Tutu.

#17 for me.  Short of last year's 20, however.  But hey, there's still time!

In all seriousness, I thought he would go last year.  Almost saw 2022.

A hit on my DDP - I think my 7th this year. Also my 13th hit on the shadow list making it my best year since 2013.

Bizarrely I hadn't put him on either my DDP or shadow list for 2022.

It's my third year choosing Tutu (out of four years). I haven't sorted out next years list but he's currently at #59 on my list and I had him marked as "no real reason to actually die" so I don't think he would have made the cut.

But he's on my 2021 list and that's all that matters :D

Funny that the thing his name will live on for most is the 2:2 degree, which I and many others were privileged to receive.

Hmm interesting that they're giving the cause of death as prostate cancer. He was diagnosed with it in 1997.

A genuinely lovely man.

Mind you, he had a fucking irritating laugh but, apart from that, yeah, good guy.

Better than a Douglas Hurd.

I was very surprised that he wasn't on this year's list- and now I will be taking him off my list for 2022!  A great man who made a real difference, sorry to see him go
