I've just realised there are MORE people born in the 1800s still alive at the end of the year than there were at the start ! None of them have died during the year but one more was added to the list (Gertrude Weaver)so its gone from 5 to 6 ! Isn't it infuriating !

Most won`t get a qualifying obit anyway.

They might be able to get obits if they die in the right order… (Misao Okawa first, Gertrude Weaver second etc.)

More to the point, SOME of them (i.e. more than the current oldest) WILL get obits if the usual pattern of death amongst the world's oldest continues.

Oh aye, and the British press will doubtless make summat of the demise of Ethel Lang, regardless of when she goes.

With four days of 2014 left I suppose Misao Okawa will live to see the next year. If she does, she'll be the first Oldest to survive in my DDP teams. Do we have another Jeanne Calment on our hands?

Hein

She's the last living victorian and oldest person in Britain, you'd kind of expect the British press to make summat of it, yes.

Sad to hear about the demise of 'The Pussy Perishers'

That's the trouble with today's elderly, so selfish

Actually I'm trying to push for this to be the Dead Pool TIE BREAKER. Pick a centenarian of your choosing, if they are ALIVE at year's end you win any ties.

Aye, but they were an under-performing dead pool brigade, stubborn to the end.

Being stubborn is one of the requirements for getting that old.
