Ffs. A QO website reporting on yet another fairy story from the backwaters of Chechnya, but still nothing for Bessie Camm!

She is dead. Unless this is all a hoax and the 2 main reporters have pulled a fast one on the people who picked her (haha, suckers). Gladys Hooper got her funeral covered by the BBC and that was 3 weeks after her death. Not to stray away from the topic but would a funeral report count as a QO? If so, that could work out in Larissa P's case.

Bessie's birthday is/was next month. Let's wait and see.

Bessie's family just didn't bother notifying the media. That's the same reason Zoltan Sarosy (oldest Canadian) and Marie Gaudette (oldest American citizen/Italian resident) got no press, despite having been covered by the media previously.

Camm's definitely dead. The gerontology geeks ain't wrong - they never are.

Local papers are normally out Wednesday or Thursday....of course they need a website, and update it...still surprised the Rotherham Advertiser hasn't put a notice up.

Even something to indicate that the crown has passed to Olive Boar.

Found two references on Twitter to Besse's death but one was in French and the other was just a list of recently deceased celebrates.  Nothing with a link to a news article.

I’ve addressed that elsewhere as shite.

It's not shite - it's her local newspaper, you buffoon.

Her local paper cites an unacceptable source.  No family member or hospital spokesperson?  I'm the buffoon, but make no mistake, You, and your legion of Clorox, DDT, redrumours, Ulitzer and Joey haven't a clue.  I consider the source of your remark, which is more than you did of the local paper's.

In the UK, a local newspaper would never publish an article about a resident’s death unless they had reliable confirmation that it had happened.

If you read the article it’s obvious that whilst they may not have spoken to a relative, they did speak with the residential home that she stayed in.

Regardless of this, GRG and Oldest in Britain work methodically (particularly the GRG) and wouldn’t announce a death until they had irrefutable confirmation.

So you’ve wasted your breath, and yes, you are a buffoon.

Tane Yonekura, the current 10th oldest living person and oldest living person in Kagoshima prefecture (after Nabi's death)

Amazing. This is the one, I reckon. She'll be the one to beat Calment.

(Cue link to her obit...)

Look what you've done! Tane Yonekura dead at 114, and no, she won't get an English language obit, before we go through this malarkey again.

The Beeb eventually tends to come good regarding the death of the oldest person in the UK though the current link in which I searched Camm still claims her as the UK's oldest living person and mentions the deaths of previous holders of the title. https://www.bbc.co.uk/search?q=bessie+camm

Incidentally my woeful performance in the HPDP has been marginally helped by Camm's death (assuming a q/o) but she's tenth on that team and there are eight survivors from 1 Jan, so it's not the most lucrative way to reap the points harvest

On second thoughts - also worth considering The Sun: https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/1419343/the-uks-oldest-woman-passes-away-at-a-nursing-home-in-the-isle-of-wight/

They tend to mark the oldest person's death

Camm will snag a q/o, though possibly with regard to her funeral
