Little list of master athletes who seem to be really indestructible, though they are known for no reason other than their longevity. Anyway I think almost all of them will live past 110, and someone (cough cough Fauja Singh) past 115. Here they are:

*Stanislaw Kowalski (1910), oldest man in Poland too

*Hidekichi Miyazaki (1910), known as the Golden Bolt.

*Fauja Singh (1911), the Sikh Tornado.

*Robert Marchand (1911), cyclist and commie.

*Mieko Nagaoka (1914) Japanese swimmer

*Ida Keeling (1915)

*Donald Pellmann (1915) broke Miyazaki's records

*Giuseppe Ottaviani (1916)

*Frederico Fisher (1917) current champ

*Ugo Sansonetti (1919) manager and athlete

Though they all seem ridicolous while doing their activities, I swear there is a good possibility at least one of these ten lives past 120.

Who is the new oldest Brit?

According to Wikipedia - and excluding British-born Canadian Phyllis Ridgway, who is older than Hocquard - the new oldest person in Britain is Sarah Priest (born November 7, 1908).

Born on the same day Butch and Sundance died.

The deaths of Joan Hocquard & Bob Weighton this year mean that the 2021 edition of Guinness World Records is now totally out of date. I saw the new version last week & was surprised as it had only just been published for next year that Bob Weighton was still listed (with a large photograph) as Britain's oldest man.

List of oldest Brits can be sourced from here.

It notes that she goes by the name of Lilian Priest (Lilian being her middle name). She's now the last person living in the UK born in 1908.

Good spot!

According to the second table here, they're the oldest British siblings ever.

Lilian is 112 next month. Gwen is 109 next month. Gwen lives in Australia.

Brazilian longevity claim Olimpio Martins Pires died a couple of days aged 112/110 (or something less)

https://gerontology.wikia.org/wiki/Olimpio_Martins_Pires

Currently alive longevity claimers are, atleast:

Billafunda (Siddha) Sayadaw U.Kowida who claims to be 1112 years old. I'd say remove around 1012 years and you'd get a more realistic age.Person likely doesn't exist.

Maria Lucimar Pereira who claims to be 130. Remove around 50 years to get the actual number? Died 21 May 2022

Alimihan Seyiti who claims to be 134. Doesn't look a day over 100. Died December 2021

Stephen Wright who claimed to be 119 but is apparently "only 108". If that is how old he actually is. Died 3rd of April 2021 at 108

Also confirmed supercentenarian Julio Cesar Mora died three days ago aged 110. Was known for his and his wife's combined age of 215.

This would make the age of Mora's wife's  age only 5?

Siddha was claimed to have been born in the year 908. He said that he went through a fire transformation ceremony to achieve his immortality.

Ridiculous, can we get a factchecker on this?

Quote

A source from 2007 says that he was actually born in 968 to U. Thar Aung and Daw Yin May which would make him 1052 years old, still the most extreme modern claim known.

That's better.

Wiki states that Karam & Katari Chand were married for 90 years 291 days before Karam died aged 110. Katari died 4 years later aged 107. They were married in a Sikh ceremony when Karam was 20 & Katari was only 13. The combined ages must be a record although Guinness refuse to recognise their achievement.

I do feel for these old biddies and boddies. You've struggled on through this meaningless sack of shit we call existence and are now reduced to the living hell of an anodyne care home, only to be forced into meeting some smug media tosser who isn't the least bit interested in the golden loves of your life, or those magnificent moments that sparkled like diamonds in shit and made it all somehow worthwhile - they merely want to know to what magic elixir you attribute your longevity. That is your epitaph.

For a very good reason.

World records must be scientifically measured. Karam and Katari Chand were born in a country where official record did not become compulsory until much later. As such, there's no reason why they couldn't have been 10 years younger than they both claimed and/or they got married much later than claimed.

Here's someone of interest.

Mollie Walker MBE.

Born February 1909. A member of the Women's Voluntary Service (WVS) during WWII. Surely the oldest living person in the UK with an honour?
