Arnold Hawkins, second-oldest man in Canada and oldest man born there died four days ago aged 110. Had longevity in his family: Grandmother lived to 107, two of his uncles lived to 100+ and sister lived to 99. His wife also lived long, to 96 and wife's sister lived to 106.

The five oldest people in Canada currently are:

1. Cecile Klein, 114, I've mentioned her before, oldest and one of the last living subjects of Edward VII.

2. Shige Mineshiba, 112. Born in Japan, quite a miracle how she is still alive: Had a myocardial infection at the age of 87 and has had dementia for around 12 years.

3. Yvonne Delorme-Martel, 111. Wheelchair-bound.

4. Anonymous of British Columbia, 111.

5. Ja Hyung Lee, 111. Oldest man in Canada, born in Korea.

What the Scottish Sun have carefully omitted to make this news is that Louisa Wilson died 2 months ago.

With the recent deaths of Janet Mackay (d. Feb, 110), Ella Vlandy (d. Jul, 107), Louisa Wilson (d. Aug, 109) and Ellen Gardner (d. Sep, 108), Scotland is now left with just two people aged 107+ (I personally can’t remember it ever being so few).

They are:

Marion Dawson b. Jan 1913 (108) lives in Johnstone, Renfrewshire

Elsie Skene b. Sep 1914 (107) lives in Insch, Aberdeenshire

Marion Dawson at church on August 15th. Able to walk with a walking stick!

Apparently there's an Isabella Catherine Donald born December 1913, according to the Press and Journal  (it's at the bottom of the article as a correction) a few days ago.

I was thinking of Agnes Westwood, but apparently she died last year.

Lucile Randon has entered top 5 oldest ever after surpassing Marie-Louise Meilleur.

Fun fact:

Both Jeanne Calment and Lucile Randon come from towns of south France, which also have similar names: Arles and Alès. Their distance is only 75 kilometers.

No supercentenarians in Martinique currently.

The second-oldest living man after Theobald's death is probably Juan Vicente Perez Mora of Venezuela.
