Halfway through the current series and no sign of Graeme Garden or Barry Cryer.

Last time Graeme was on Would I Lie To You. He sounded weak and subdued.

Off radar, Graeme Garden got a pacemaker last year or two, and his doctors have told him he needs to drastically cut down his work on heart related health grounds.

No word of late bar "recovering from hip replacement", but my least favourite TV personality Gyles Brandreth apparently told friends Barry has been "unwell for a while".

Cryer was a very heavy smoker allegedly so it's probably related to that.

BBC Radio 2 just announced the death of comedian Tim Brooke-Taylor OBE at the age of 79.

Apparently he had tested positive for COVID-19.

So, I'll just cross post this here.

Tim Brooke-Taylor is a radio and TV legend, and I'll miss him. RIP.

So sad. He was one of those I thought would go on forever.

Tim Brooke-Taylor is the 4th DDP pick to be whacked by coronavirus.

I would have predicted Tim Brooke-Taylor to have outlived Bill Oddie and Graeme Garden. Very sad news

Me too. I also thought he would outlive Richard O'Sullivan, his co-star in Me and My Girl.

I defer to this thread and to Tim Brooke-Taylor being on it.  I loved The Goodies and this was sad news to awake to this Easter.  RIP.

Barry Cryer still enjoying a ciggie. Quite right Bazza, stairs and smoking not killed him yet!

Cryer doesn't look too bad here for 85.

Jack Dee looks like Jack Nicholson. Graeme Garden looks okayish.

Really I took one look at Greame Garden and was tempted to bet my redundancy money on Bill Oddie being the last surviving Goodie.

I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue producer Iain Pattinson dies, aged 71.

Barry Cryer said while Dee and his predecessor Humphrey Lyttelton are “rightly lauded” for hosting I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue, Pattinson’s contribution cannot be overstated.

He said: “His mastery of the witty line hitting target in just a few words was unsurpassed.”

Courtesy of Chortle.co.uk, every Lionel Blair intro to the Sound Charades round, all written (according to chortle) by Iain Pattinson.

Don't remember hearing him at all in the last series, rather worryingly, but Barry Cryer was on last night's show, and sounded in pretty good voice - well, for someone who had to sing 'There's No-one Quite Like Grandma' to the tune of 'Theme from New York, New York.' A very Deathlisty name though, and probably worth considering for 2022.

Oh no, that's very sad news - but doesn't feel unexpected.

There hasn't been a documentary about UK comedy without Barry as a talking head since, ooh, 1996 - can the genre even continue now?

Come on Vinegar Tits, what was he really like?

Yes he was always on hand to provide the commentary on the passing of the other comedians with whom he had worked. Because so much was behind the scenes as a writer he was probably in a unique position. I imagine John Lloyd fulfilling that role for the next generation and Barry has outlived most of his contemporaries
