King Fahd, William Rehnquist, Peter Jennings

Fahd may allready be on his way out

Renequist is ill and allready on the 2005 list

and hopefully soon he will add another sucess.

Peter Jennings was dignosed with lung cancer in april

though i can't say i know the whereabouts of how

much his cancer has progressed. If he could see

2006 i could vision him in the grand number 1 spot

now that Pope John Paul is gone.

75 Today B) Well he was 74 when I posted it at first

Are you sure about Eddie and his birthdate? According to his tombstone he's a bit older~~~~~~~~~

Sad to see his wife Edith has already left us.

Moving back to the matter at hand, I remeber Edward Woodward from Breaker Morant and also as Robert McCall in the U.S. television series from the 1980's The Equalizer. Something of a comedy although I'm sure it wasn't meant to be. The most memorable scene was in an early episode in which Woodward's character grabs a lowlife thug and thrusts him hard against a wall and with less than a hand span between their faces says to him "You will stay away from her. You will not follow her. You will not go near her. Do you understand me? Do I make myself perfectly clear?" It was absolutely hysterical. Mind you this was not a show to be watched without appropriate resources; but with a good bottle of booze it became tolerable.

According to IMDB

He was born on 1 June 1930 and the mother of his children is Venetia Barrett

(No mention of if they're married).

Mind you this was not a show to be watched without appropriate resources; but with a good bottle of booze it became tolerable.

This applies to many tv shows.

Saw him on the telly a couple of nights ago, boy, the last few years have NOT been kind to him.

Is he still married to Michelle Dotrice ( the long suffering Betty in 'Some mothers do have 'em)?

I like Rotten Ali's list because it gives us a good list to look at... eliminating the ones who are dead and some that I've chosen to ignore for lack of information/giving a damn, here's some things to consider/discuss.

Jerry Falwell - congestive heart failure + obesity --> Doing well after treatment, probably not the best candidate

Ronnie Biggs - very ill + 3 strokes + in jail --> Practically a given

Suharto - intestinal bleeding + stroke 1999 + in jail --> I forget exactly where, but I read a rather convincing argument on why he'll be around for a few more years... wish I could find it though...

"Unwell with Cancer"

Harold Pinter - cancer --> Just received the Nobel Prize for Literature, but still suffering... a good consideration

Senitor Arlen Specter - cancer --> Cured (I believe) after treatment

King Harald V of Norway - bladder cancer --> Doing sportingly last time I heard

Wendie Jo Sperber - breast cancer + obesity --> One of the ones that I'm considering for my 2006 DDP, she founded a cancer orginization in 2003, then the cancer spread all over her body and there's been no news/activity with her since. Young pick though.

Billy Graham - 87 years old - prostate cancer + Parkinsons' --> Has been preparing himself to die for a while, including going on a "final farewell" tour for his church. Definetely one to watch, if he passes the UK fame test.

Charlton Heston - prostate cancer + Alzhelmers --> Fading, but probably not quickly enough

"Quite Unwell"

Dick Clark - "bad shape" + diabetes + stroke 2004 --> Supposedly had a huge improvement after his mild 2004 stroke

Augusto Pinochet - old + diabetes + obesity + arthritis + 2 strokes --> See his thread, quite a possible choice

Liz Taylor - diabetes + obesity + bulimia + alcoholism --> See my comments in an earlier thread... questionable, but would be a bit silly to miss

W Mark Felt - dementure + stroke --> Supposedly revealed his identity as he is near his deathbed, probably not as much of a publicity whore as Liz

Greg Louganis - AIDS --> Doing fine (for an AIDS patient) the last time I heard, but I haven't had an update in a while

Maurice Papon - ill + in jail --> I believe he's 95 at this point and not doing well... may be another good consideration

Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn - old with high blood pressure --> Probably not a good choice, see his thread

"Not much hope of improvement"

Estelle Getty - Parkinsons' --> See her thread, very likely choice

Muhammad Ali - Parkinsons' --> After suffering from Parkinsons' for years, there have been a flurry of reports of his coming demise, which isn't something that happened much before... one to watch and consider

By the way, props to Footbal_Fan who was 3 for 3 in his suggestions to Grim Rita.

Was not even aware of this thread. Surely we should make use of it for 2006?

Why, thank you. Yes this Hot Tips topic has been "lost" for some time. Interesting to see it pop back up - I note of the 50 names I posted, 7 have departed in the 6 months since posting it. A bit of a better ratio than the DL's own list. But my 4 hits out of 20 DDP names looks a bit light! Thanks very much for your update and insight Paul - I will feed back this info into my 500 name spreadsheet and get it mathmatically mashed into my 4 deadpool lists that run Jan to Dec. (My 1st September to 31st August 2006 Rotten.com ten name list "still only" has three hits so far. Last years was a respectable 5 out of ten for the full year)

I'll be sure to post back into "ideas for 2006" thread within this site quite soon.

I have no hot tips but I just wanted to post because this is the first time I have ever had the entire forum to myself. It is 10-2-7 and apparently no other DL'ers are awake yet. I feel like I've been, Jeffrey Bernard style, left locked in a pub overnight.

This is a superb thread that's had me absorbed for a while now. I'll bet if we met some of these people we'd use descriptions other than 'hot.'

Don't think to soon Lady Die - There are allways possibilitys

and hopefully one would be George Best living untill

January 1 2006.

I was just being positive but I suppose Lady Die did think

soon enough because George Best is now history. ;)
