Toby Hadoke who is a solid source on aging British TV actors says Andre Maranne is alive as of April 2020. Good enough for me.

Ronald Rich presumably would be news due to 2 sets of obsessive fandoms (Bond, Dr Who) but was alive 5 years ago as he was sending fan mail out then. That's last I heard of the guy.

Interesting, thanks for this!

Just had a look on StarTiger, the autograph hunter's site and they've had Rich returning things signed too.

I decided to check how the SPECTRE members in Thunderball are doing.
(Almost all dead, though)

IMG_20201116_230539.thumb.png.4357e4b5286f4af06e2118f4aaeb70af.png

Blofeld, Number One: Anthony Dawson (1916-1992)

Largo, Number Two: Adolfo Celi (1922-1986)

Spectre Number Three: Victor Beaumont (1912-1977)

Spectre Number Four: Neville Becker (1930-1999)

Spectre Number Five: Philip Stone (1924-2003)

Spectre Number Six: Bob Simmons (1922-1987)

Spectre Number Seven: Cecil Cheng (1925-2002)

Spectre Number Eight: Did not appear in the film

Spectre Number Nine: Clive Cazes (1929-1987)

Spectre Number Ten: Andre Maranne (1926-2021)

Spectre Number Eleven: Murray Kash (1923-2009)

Spectre Number Twelve: Peter Forbes-Robertson (1927-1995)

Spectre Number Thirteen: Gabor Baraker (1926-1983)

Spectre Number Fourteen: Jaron Yaltan (1921-2002)

There also were:

Blofeld's voice actor: Eric Pohlmann (1913-1979)

Largo's voice actor: Robert Rietty (1923-2015)

Largo's underwater "stunt" actor: John McLaughlin (1927-2016)

Yes, I checked these after I found out Maranne that someone suggested for the list was in this movie. I remember the scene very well and I'm honestly suprised that he's the last man standing from there.

Why are you surprised that Maranne is the last man standing from there, if you don’t mind me asking? I ask because he was one of the younger Spectre actors in Thunderball.

He was probably more famous for his role as the chef in the Fawlty Towers episode in which Basil hits his car with a branch. Well he was to me anyway.

Maranne was most famous to me as François, Dreyfus’ loyal assistant in The Pink Panther films.

André Maranne seems to be the oldest living cast member from a James Bond film, which is another reason why he should be on next year’s list.

Does anyone know of any actor from the Bond series, still alive and older than Maranne?

Not the chef - that was Steve Plytas who died in 1994. He was the unoriginally named Andre who Sybil flirted with and who ran his own restaurant. He was also in at least one other episode

That's a bit of a shocker.  I seem to recall she had a bit of a fling with John Taylor back in the day (lucky thing!), though it may have just been a rumour re press for 'A View To A Kill'. She wasn't one of 'my' Angels, though I was still watching Charlies Angels by the time she was in it. Very sad news indeed.

After 2020 took Bond, two major villains and three Bond girls....

I know he had his own thread bit it looks a bit funny not to see Connery in here since he was mentioned still being alive on page 11.

To be fair they both are being treated in Cedars-Sinai

Find it curious they allowed the story to run for an entire day before correcting - even if as the report suggests it was an error at the hospital, surely someone would have seen a report and called to correct.

The James Bond social media accounts seemed to be holding off making an official statement and only did around 8 hours ago so maybe they were struggling to get confirmation from her reps but thats embarrassing if true.

"Can I see her for the last time, doc?"

"Of course..."

"Oh, Tanya.... hey, wait a minute, that's not my partner, that's fucking Larry King!"

"Well, so here is where we moved him..."

Is this her agent?

Stephen Merchant videos page 6 - British Comedy Guide

10:26 AM PT -- Tanya's husband of 18 years, Lance O'Brien, says he was unable to visit her in the hospital because of COVID restrictions. However, hospital staff made an exception when they realized the actress likely wouldn't pull through.

Lance tells us, "As I held her in her last moments, she opened her eyes. I was able to see her beautiful eyes one last time. Tanya had the most beautiful eyes."

So either Lance or TMZ were being economical with the truth. Hmmm, I wonder which...

Interesting to note that she is in hospital in a really bad way though following whatever happened to her on Christmas Eve.

Looks like a case of when rather than if.

Lyrics for a life insurance policy?

Meeting you with a view to a kill
Face to faces, secret places, feel the chill
Night fall covers me
But you know the plans I'm making
Still overseas,
Could it be the whole lot opening wide
A sacred why
A mystery gaping inside
A week is why
Until we dance into the fire
That fatal kiss is all we need
Dance into the fire
To fatal sounds of broken dreams
Dance into the fire
That fatal kiss is all we need
Dance into the fire
The choice for you is the view to a kill
Between the shades assassination standing still
First crystal tears,
Fallen of snowflakes on your body
First time in years
To drench you skin of lover's rosy stain
A chance to find the phoenix for the flame
A chance to die
But can we dance into the fire
That fatal kiss is all we need
Dance into the fire
To fatal sounds of broken dreams
Dance into the fire
That fatal kiss is all we need
Dance into the fire
When all we see is the view to a kill
