Doris Day

Hmm, I'm not sure. I hope she doesn't live to be 130 as then she might become one of those unverified world's oldest!

For some reason, a sufficiently respectable german newspaper got a scoop yesterday that Doris Day is willing to play a role in Clint Eastwood's next movie. I can't see anything yet in the english-speaking press:

She wants to do it only if she doesn't have to travel beyond her hometown Carmel (she's one of Eastwood's neighbours). And her pay shall go to the Doris Day Animal League.

Looks like they had a scoop on that one.

Here's an article from The Guardian from today

Does Doris know how old is she?

She says she's 92 but official records say she's 94.

She says she's 92 but official records say she's 94.

Or as she puts it: "Age is just a number".

Just seen these photos on facebook. She doesn't look 92 let alone 94.

Good call for the committee to keep her off this year.

I think people are getting to obsessed with what is left of the golden age of Hollywood.

Kirk Douglas- 10 years left

Doris Day- 10 years left

Olvia de Haviland- 5 years left

Zsa Zsa- no idea

What about Paul Newman's wife? was she not going downhill fast??

Of course she did know! Lying about one's age is actually pretty common in showbiz (esp. for females), and some might even do it at their managers' suggestion, cause the seemingly minor difference between age 29 and age 31 could translate to the difference between getting the opportunity (the first major role) or never getting anywhere. Doris Day looked a bit younger than her age in her 20s-30s, and it was in everyone's interest (= managers, studios etc.) to play along.

Now that her career is over, she can admit to her real age, cause it doesn't matter anymore.

She has really hidden herself away, can hardly find anything recent on her

Well, at 95, she might just be enjoying a quiet retirement?

She could come back to the DL 2018?

She should. One of the biggest icons of her day and very elderly now. There have been concerns for her welfare in the past albeit from unreliable sources and as a Christian scientist is less likely to be treated in a serious medical situation.

I think being a 95 year old  a genuine icon warrants putting her back on the list.

Does that warrant Betty White to stay on the list?

I'm not persuaded that she's at serious risk this year. I personally would have taken the chance and saved her for next year.

There's no doubt though that Doris Day was going to return at some point she's an absolute major big name icon from the golden age of Hollywood.
