"According to the hospital, Joshi was jointly examined by doctors from different departments (medicine, pulmonology, urology, cardiology, nephrology)." "Alarming" but there is "no need to panic" say the doctors. Satya Mohan Joshi reportedly recovering and to be discharged in around two days. But he was also recovering on Monday/Tuesday and they said back then that he'd be discharged "tomorrow if everything goes well". This is apparently a new picture.

Satya Mohan Joshi was reported "critical" around ten hours ago but seemingly now improving (but not out of danger). Massive coffin tease. He's 102, suffers from a ton of chronic lung/heart/kidney/prostate problems and possibly also one or two cancers. Yet he's improving again. 1

Those vitals suggest his whole system has already failed. The only season he's still alive is because it's all fucked to some degree of equilibrium. Will be dead within weeks, if not 2-3 months absolute tops.

He knew he was fucked when he was hospitalised, there was some talk about him having a "last wish" when he asked politicians to preserve an ancient river. Or well, he's probably known he's going to die at some point in the very near future for a while, after all he's a 102-year-old with multiple illnesses. I respect him a lot having read some of the stuff he's done. He's written multiple books, helped preserve folk culture and has written a lot about the history of his country. He's considered by some one of the fathers of contemporary Nepali language and culture and is also known for raising awareness about environmental issues. In 1943, Satya Mohan Joshi worked at Nepal's Department of Industrial and Commercial Intelligence; he surveyed and created reports about the social economy in two districts Tanahun and Lamjung. As he visited the districts, Joshi saw people singing in various areas including fields, jungles, and Chautara (a place where people communicate and share information). In the afternoon, the villagers would sing songs with madals and performed Maruni, Kaura, Chudka, Sorathi, and Jhyamrey dances. Music was an extensive part of the villagers' life which fascinated Joshi. He wanted to reveal these songs throughout Nepal but the country did not have radio stations until 1951, instead he published the songs in a literary magazine Sarada. Balkrishna Sama, an editor of the magazine, recommended that he should provide contexts for each song so Joshi wrote about their histories and his own analysis. In the start, he found it difficult to write context about the song because no one had penned about the culture of Nepal. Afterwards, he collected the published lyrics from the magazine and issued the book Hamro Lok Sanskriti.
arghton 6,697 Posted October 14, 2022 Satya Mohan Joshi on non-invasive ventilator/high flow oxygen, meds not working, suffers from severe pneumonia and multiple other ailments and infections, advanced heart disease, low bp and his chronic ailments. On some kind of Albumin medication. Seems like he has hokey-pokey'd into critical condition, "near-critical" and critical again during the last hours. VS Achuthanandan, Kaikala Satyanarayana and Raoni have all released some kind of statements recently, as during the last month or two, all have outlived a younger and healthier colleague. Achuthanandan mourned his home affairs minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan (1953-2022) and apparently cried, Satyanarayana's colleague Krishnam Raju (1940-2022) died. Can't remember the name of Raoni's dead friend/colleague/family member.

arghton 6,697 Posted October 15, 2022 I'm suprised how they publish his vitals. I recall they already did that the previous time he was hospitalised. But they also mention almost everything else, his ailments and for example that he's on IV albumin replacament. I look forward to seeing what will happen next though. Use of albumin could imply liver failure, severe sepsis or septic shock any of which would all mean he's a goner very soon, meaning hours.. But it could be just due to infections. And he could be a goner anyways considering his health issues. The only person over 80 I know of who has survived septic shock is fellow immortal Kaikala Satyanarayana, survived it at 86. (But it did fuck up his organs so badly he has seemingly connected to machines since, and it's been 11 months)
